New Owner: 04 Accord, HFP!!!

Hello Guys new to the forum. Bought my new 2004 Accord coupe with 3.0 6 speed trans. It is the Honda Factory Performance addition. Before I was a 99 Nissan Maxima enthusiast. Now its Honda b/c it has everything that the Maxima didn't.

It has 132,567 miles on it and its just breaking in. It had a lean code and a power steering whine when I bought it. Found part of the lean code being the EGR was leaking. LTFT was at positive 19% before now it is at 10% after replacement (still not that great, but code is off now). The whine was from the inlet hose and the inlet hose o'ring being rock hard, so the pump was sucking in air.

I put a new clutch in it and its about to get a new timing belt in her also. I just threw a spector high flow filter in there, just to make it breath a little better. I installed the GTA ipod interface in with a 8" alpine type r sub.

Planning on doing light mods to her. Thinking of light weight pulleys, deleting the main cat and putting a resonator, then a catback system. I want to get some thermal intake gaskets when I do the valve adjustment.

Tell me what you think. I'm I missing any must do mods?

Congrats. Use the search button or browse by specific forums and you'll learn a whole lot.!!

I suggest getting the Gates timing belt kit (w/water pump). Might as well change that while your in there. If your not changing it, don't let a mechanic take you on it, because its like a 10min job once your at the timing belt

Get a j-pipe that deletes the 3rd cat, gains are better than a y-pipe on a Maxima.

Thanks for the comments.

I will have to look into that. I don't know if its a better power gain then that y-pipe, that OE pipe is horrible, plus the OE crimp on the Catback is just silly too.

I just got my Gates timing belt kit for $130 off of rockauto.com.

I have that cover, just took it off to clean under it.

Also just a heads up to the people that are replacing your clutch's, you don't have to take out the whole subframe to replace it. You can drop it a little bit and slide the transmission back far enough to take the clutch out and put the alignment tool in place when your installing it.

Precat deletes and jpipe are the only worthwhile gains. Nice car, have fun with it!

Driveability mods would be a NRG Torque Damper, and/or the Ingals one and the Check Valve Delete in the slave cylinder.

Wish I could find one with a manual trans here in Hawaii. Most ones that I come across are sunburned (famous honda paint peel), covered in dirt, full of sand and a surf rack. We call em' maui cruzers lol!

You can do a lot with these cars. Check some of the threads in the performance section. I have an 03 6-6. Going the bolt on route so far I have

CAI
3.7 IM and TB
RV6 J-Pipe
Borla Catback
Tuned on Hondata flashpro with the TL ECU setup

It's making 239hp at the wheels and 216tq. I still need a bigger intake pipe, and PCD's. Id also like to do the 3.5 TL-S cams. It's endless. These cars respond really well to modifications.

The Ingalls tq dampner and Comptech short shifter are a must. I haven't done the bushings yet, but it's a huge improvement. These are very solid cars.

Congrats and good luck.
