Are you putting the 04 engine in the 98 or the 98 engine in the 04? Your two parts of that sentences contradict. 04 to 98 has been done. However if you are currently in the process, I recommend you halt the project if possible and get a j32 acura engine and/or transmission, and drop that in. The engines are close to each other in price, with much more performance possible. The 04 engine is only a couple HP more than the 98 engine.

I dropped 04 engine into my 98 accord body. Now its 6 speed. I tried the 6 speed tranny with the original engine but nothing worked. My speedo vtec back up lights. So I got the 04 engine. The 04 engine is 40 more hp than the 98.

I think that waas before SAE revised many dyno numbers.

Anyway the j32a3 is similar in price for a full engine, and has some parts that we actually swap onto our engines(the j30a4 or "04" engine) for more hp. Like cams, springs, higher flowing heads, and it has more volume for 270(before SAE revisions) or 258(after revisions) hp.

Good job on the swap though. Still a hell of a job. Just letting you know if you can sell the old engine and trans, turn a profit, and get the j32a3, it will be a much more satisfying starting point for mods and power than the j30a4. All you need is the engine and (optionally) ECU.

And since it's the exact same process you just went through to get the 04 engine in, it would be a piece of cake! same electrical connectors, in the same place, so no rewire. Even the exhaust ports and engine mounts are cross compatible so nothing else would have to be changed.

NEEDS MORE PICTURES!

I don't believe Honda had to revise Accord V6 hp numbers. The TL was overrated but not the Accord.
