buying a 6-6-6

I currently have the option to buy an 06 6-6 for like 3000. 200k miles, silver coupe. grey interior. Are there any problems associated with buying a higher mileage accord like this? I know timing belt will be due at 240.

If anyone has any questions that I should ask the guy before buying please let me know.

All the bushing go bad over time. Motor mounts, 3rd gear grinding, random sensors go bad. Have an extra 1-2k to do some repair and maintenance

Is there a fix for third gear problem? Perhaps the m 3 & 4?

Don't forget about the clutch - see if it's been done.

And I would think the timing belt/water pump/tensioners/seals would need to be done ASAP since they recommend replacing all the stuff every 100k miles....

oh man shes an oldy!!!
is it in stock form? did it have regular maintenance done to it?

im at 250k km currently and mine is still running great. burns a bit of oil but i mean its high mileage.

as the others said, the rubbers for the suspension might be worn just based on age (mine are still fine tbh, but im running coil overs now. no issues)

as far as third gear grind, i honestly havent had it. maybe mine is an anomaly but it never has grinded on me. what ive read on here is that you just need to change the tranny fluid with gym syncro mesh fluid and it works wonders.

as far as clutches, they are said to last about 400k km, so whatever that is in miles. Take that with a grain of salt, as if the car has been driven hard it might need to be changed sooner. This is also quite an expensive job as the subframe has to be pulled off to access the transmission (or so ive heard).

also as previously mentioned, check if the timing belt has been done. you will prolly have to redo the valve adjustment as well since its super high miles.

good luck!

Drive it, if you like it, buy it. I would ask for service records or when the timing belt was changed, check the color of the radiator fluid, check for ease of shifting and clear engagement, run an OBD2 on it on your test drive that he'll let you take so you can test it out, and maybe as a last step see if he'll let you run a compression check on it.

I would pick it up. If you need help on a rebuild if you have time for it to be down, or want to use my ported heads and parts from my blown motor, I won't need them anymore. In fact if you don't end up picking it up send me the sellers info because I may literally pick it up.

He was taking it to a shop to have a shock changed out, and the mechanic bought it. 3500. He said if he doesn't follow thru he'll hmu but until then I'm back to shopping! Oh and... I can't drive a stick. I HAVE driven a stick, but I wouldn't say I can easily drive one.

Get it cheap! I picked up an identical 06 6-6, higher mileage from original owner.
Look for, timing belt/water pump replacement
- flywheel
-third gear grind
- maintenance records are key..

I actually ended up swapping a j32a3 into mine after purchase with low k's.
There nice cars, but be prepared to spend 1500-2000 getting it up to snuff.
Hope that helps

Trans will likely be tired, original clutch will be on its way out. Needs valve adjustments, timing belt, water pump etc. Suspension bushings will likely be shot. Exhaust leaks?

202,000 miles on my Accord, change the oil every 7500 miles with Penzoil Platinum, oil level stays full, and the oil never turns completely black so the engines if cared for can last well beyond 200k miles. Stuff I've had to replace have been bushings (LCAs), motor mounts, stuff like that.

Wish the 6-6 was available here in Dubai, sadly, they don't exist.
