transmission crapped out

Hey guys,

My transmission on my 06 accord coupe crapped out at 216K, it's been a trouble free car for 9 years.

Anybody know a good transmission shop in SO CAL, LA, MONTEBELLO area.

How much is a transmission job in LA area?

post if you got any info

thanks

Can't give you any shop recommendations but see if you can find one that uses the Translab shift kit, makes a big difference with a rebuild. Greatly improves shift feel.

If its a 6 speed, I have had good luck with transaxle rebuilding from "AA Gears & Shafts" on Washington Blvd in downtown LA. It was a while ago and as I remember it they are a manual trans only shop.
Good Luck!

Thanks guys, I'm waiting on my credit union for an approval on a car loan. I may just get a new ridgeline.

I found one shop that will do it for 1800 to 2000 based on my car and what i told them over the phone.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Well the ride is back running after an $1800 transmission job.

It's on craigslist for sale though.

very interesting, have never heard of this...
My transmission crapped out about 3or4yrs ago('04 v6)@ only 90K miles...
Honda didn't even want to hear about it unless I paid them like $150 to "diagnose" with no guarantee that they would offer any good will after diagnosis.
Local shops in my area weren't really interested in touching it, one shop wanted around 4k(total) to "install" a rebuilt unit that they would purchase.
Ended up getting one from SYNCHROTECH and installing it myself. I've put about 30K miles on it so far...

The transmission lasted 216k miles so i got my money's worth. Need to sell it though, cos i need something newer.

If i was more mechanically inclined I would keep it cos it's a fun car.

you did well @ 1800. I think I paid around 1200 for the rebuilt unit, like I said, like 3 or yrs ago. Then I had to install it myself, something I would probably never do again...

The 03 to 05 Hondas had tranny issues, I guess they worked out the bugs by 06. The 3.0 v6 engines are bullet proof so Iím not worried about the engine at all.

Whoever buys it is getting a good car.
