Why I Hate the 8th Gen....

So armed and bored, after taking pictures of Jenny, I went to my local Honda dealership to take pictures of one of Jenny's sisters for sale (a used GTO). After that, I spotted this ugly crone.

Blunt nose, slab hood, flat booty.

Angles and creases all over the place! Did Honda hire Chris Bangle for this one?

Hood should've been extended to line up with the fender, what is with this set of panel lines?

Another hideous set of creases (lower right of grill, lower left of headlight area).

The rear slope of the roofline is good, but this car just looks too fat for it.

An "onion booty", but not in a good way.

Trunk doesn't line up, and even if it isn't supposed to, it's a horrible angle... and more senseless creases!

Seriously, everything is so mish-mashed, that it looks like it got rear ended (the angles of the tail-light are horrendous).

At least they got the mirrors to match the odd shapes of the pannels... so everything is uniformally ugly.

They even bent the mirror!

How many angles do you need on only 25% of your front bumper?

Barf! Put a paper bag over that!

Much better!

Yes, I have too much time on my hands... but I'm just not tired yet. I slept in a lot, so I could be well rested when I met with my Princess for "Happy Heart Day". I know, these are just my opinions. Others may not agree with me... but come on! This car is NOT beautiful. I would never pay over $20K for something that looks like that. And $28K+ for a mildly quick (6-speed V6) version of ugly? *Laughs.*

(Everyone note that I didn't rag on the "Robocop" headlights. She does have pretty eyes... but the rest of her....)

Damn bro, I don't know why I'm up this late.. but I loved the way coupes were until now. 6spds are something to drool over but yeah, 8gen sedans look way better IMO.

They gotta extend the tail lights onto the trunk. Having that big azz space there reminds me of the Chrysler 300's except w/o the bently look. lol.

After taking another look at it again, yeah that front end is fugly. Why didn't the designers line up the hood with the fenders? It really needs a drop too which I know can be fixed wit a simple kit but still.

Pedestrian safety. I still don't understand why we are trying to help the people stupid enough to step out in front of a moving car...where's Darwin when you need him?

Oh thats right. Something about it absorbing more of the force and collapsing around the person making it less of a sting right. All I can say to that is DUH! Thats something I would attempt to mod if I got that car.

I was always so/so on the 8th gen, never warmed up to it and had various likes and dislikes (way more dislikes). Now after being in tons of coupes and sedans, I don't like this generation AT ALL. The sedan is way too big and very boring, and the coupe just looks off and unbalanced in so many places. The interior looks terribly cheap, I hate the layout and I don't like a thing about it.

Of course this is all a subjective thing and to each their own, and if you love it, more power to ya. But as of now, the 7th gen. is the last gen. of the Accord for me. If Honda continues in the direction it is now going, I won't be a Honda fan for much longer.

And one more thing: I have been reading various forums and I am VERY disappointed with the quality of this gen. Those who throw stones at Nissan (I am bringing them up b/c they seem to get picked on a lot on Honda forums) need to think twice these days, as it seems like Honda's quality has gone down the drain too.

I've read on Edmunds that among the general populace, Honda has been dropping in ratings. What's keeping them alive is that some people still remember when they made long lasting high quality stuff... and Car & Driver, I think.

Honda has been starting to decline since 2000. The 7th generation Civic was a bust, and the 8th generation Accord is driving more people away than bringing them in. They've gotten lazy, while the US Domestic brands are trying to work harder (GM is, at least... not sure about Ford with their craptastic "Mustang only" line-up).

I wanted to take pictures of the ridiculous interior too... but the doors were locked.

Talk about ironic. You saying this car is ugly is like the pot calling the kettle black. If you were so concerned about the looks of a car, you shouldn't have bought the GTO. GTO's are bland and fugly as hell. Their only redeeming quality is the hp and exhaust note.

Sorry guys, but I get a lot of compliments on Jenny when I'm at the car wash, and the gas station. It's a stylish car, despite what the magazines say. It's smooth, and conservative, but still looks a little strong. It's just not a "wild and crazy" style that most younger and "Import" guys are into. I also think that the 6th generation coupe is stylish, while many find it bland and boring. As I said, my opinion is my opinion, and a lot of people agree with me.

And thanks, SixSpeeder.

i'm not an engineer but maybe those creases have a function? what's the coefficient of drag on the 8th gen coupe? the wheels have GOT TO GO! adding aftermarket wheels and lowering it would upgrade the look to badazz.

but yeah ... i wouldn't trade in my 7th gen for it.

If I recall correctly, drag was much much worse than the 7th gen...which itself was considered particularly slippery

I looked into importing a GTO into Canada since they weren't sold here. They didn't meet some Canadian bumper regulation, so I got my AV6.
As for the 8th gens
Kind of been so-so about them. Def needs a drop. I didn't like the 8th gen Civics when they came out but they grew on me.
Personally I love the lines on the 7 gen

Four doors are not for me, so I didn't take pictures of the Sedan. I may end up taking pictures tonight, since I have nothing to do.

2003 7th Generation Coupe had .29, which is very good (C5 Corvette).

For some reason, C&D is saying that the .33 of the new coupe is better than the .34 of last year's. I don't understand though, because did the refresh of the 7th gen really jack it up that high?
