OFFICIAL 8th Gen. Accord Accident/Bodywork Thread

Yes, already im starting a thread on wrecked 8th gen Accords. We got one in the shop now with 1500 miles on it. The customer pulled into the road and didnt see the car that ripped off the front end comming. The impact on the 8th gen was at the drivers side in the very front. The other car ripped off the front bumper, and bumper re enforcement straight off the frmae rail ends. its getting a new radiator support, hood, headlights, bumper, radiator, A/C condensor and a few other miscellaneous things. pics will follow as work progresses.........

right frame extension shown here just barely holding on

left frame rail extension ripped out completely. the impact was so quick that it ripped the bolt on the end of the frmae rail clean in half.

from the top

from the bottom

parts!!!

Well if you have anything laying around now or in the future, post'em up... as long as they are still usable.

What are you going to do with that old radiator support>? I was looking for one just as a messuring tool to use as an after market radiator tempalte. can you messure the distance between mount holes on the bottom beam for me? are they just pin/hole?
thanks
Schu

the old radiator support will get tossed in the metal bin at my work. ill measure the distance tomorrow on the new radiator support. all you need measured is the distance between the radiators lower mounting points?

i can tell the rest of you this much. honda is getting really stingy with space under the hood. from what i can see its going to be really hard to do a turbo setup on an 8th gen. from the funky angles on the radiator support, side aprons, and frame rails its going to be tricky to run a pipe around the rails to a FMIC setup.......

Yes indeed... just the distance between the two holes on the bottom bracket thank you very very much.

Wishing they had never molded the exhuast headers to the heads

damn that brings to mind the phrase "I'm going to knock your head CLEAN off!"

The drivers of both cars got real lucky, had the accord made it out a little further into the road that could have been fatal.

behind that red circle, mounted on that black plate on each side are the air bag sensors. in all honesty, with a hit like this one, its probably better that the air bags didnt go off.......

Very Sad.

Too bad you get the negative on the CarFax as well.

We bought a 2005 Impala (used) in 2005 with 21K miles on it for $15K.

When we returned after they cleaned it a snow plow had hit it in the right front ruining the hood and fender.

Not thinking of future negatives I laughed, they replaced and (much) later we realized we owned a car with a negative on its history.

Darn!

If I was the owner of that Accord that got sandwitched after only three days of purchase I would be so pissed off I would spontaneously combust.
