2008 6-6 Engine Issue

My brother has a 2008 AV6 6MT with about 45k miles on it. For the past 10k miles or so he has been hearing alot of noise from the timing belt side of the motor. It sounds to me like the bearings in a pulley are shot.

He brought it to a dealer (he has the extended warranty) and they said they are going to replace a tensioner, shim it, grind down a tab on another pulley, and replace the timing belt at the same time. The dealer claims this is the reccomended TSB from Honda regarding it.

I searched online because this sounds to me like a half-assed fix. I couldnt find this TSB that they are talking about.

Does anyone here know of this TSB, or has anyone else had this noise?

Thanks.

Lol, both my brother and I put crazy mileage on our cars due to work. He got his car in late June of 08 with 3 miles on the odometer, I got mine Aug 8 2008 with 56,600 on it. I broke 100k last week.

The reason I thought it seems like a half assed fix is usually Honda revises the parts if they are causing a known issue, especially if said issue is 4 years old. I did find a TSB for the 05-07 V6s that described the same problem he had. He dropped the car off this morning and they replaced the timing belt, the tensioner, clearanced the engine mount bracket and shimmed the tensioner as per the TSB. They also adjusted the valves as they were a bit noisy.

The noise is no longer there, so he's happy, especially since it didnt cost a penny.
