Im too cheap to buy a nice radar detector, so I just have a cheap cobra that costs like $40 at walmart. It is nothing fancy but it does its job though

i had a cobra radar before, but it used to go off constantly whenever there was a bank around the corner, and it went off when there was a fire truck or an 18-wheeler on the road.

so i put in on the pavment, and drove over it with my car.

best 30 bucks ever spent.

Passport Escort 8500 X50 Blue

Haven't had any real issues with it, it's saved me from at least two tickets since I bought it for $200, so it's paid for it's self.

Only complaint I have is that if you leave the POP radar on it goes off randomly and so does the X band radar, so I turned both off.

The range on it is exceptional, I've gotten warnings from close to a mile away, very good radar. I suggest it to anyone that has a bit of a lead foot, your eyes can only do so much.

I was going down the HWY one night and was on the other side of a big over pass (hill type thing) and I got the signal of Ka radar, which is the cops, I was doing about 85 MPH, slowed to 60 MPH over the hill. As I come to the bottom of the hill, a car passes me doing about the same speed I WAS doing and the cop pulls out, pulls him over and wrote him a ticket. If he had a radar detector and I didn't, I would've gotten the ticket.

haha my fav is the v1 but I cant afford that so I got a bel v940 (works like a charm, havent gotten a ticket ever since I purchased in late sept/mid oct) but I do still speed my @$$ off it saved me quite a few times (I also get sometimes a mile away or more for warnings mainly k and x and even sometimes ka)

I love it to death and never drive without it on the highways (here in pa, only state leos can use radar for speed enforcement therefore no need to turn it on for local leos on the local roads or any place where the state troopers do not patrol)

I have a Beltronics Vector 995. It's saved me so many times. I would say though that the Escort 9500i with GPS probably made most radar detectords obsolete.

I used to have the cheapy cobra in my old civic before. It was nothing fancy either but it did save my butt a couple times. I only really used it on the highways tho since it would go off all the time on the streets which annoyed the hell out of me.

Passport Escort 8500 X50 hands down! saved me from many tickets so pretty much paid for itself. turned off the POP and X and got no false alarms.

V1 all the way too It saved my butt 3 times. First day I got it, it picked up the po po 2 miles aways. I was like WTH I don't see no cop then bam 2 miles later there was a cop on the side of the road next to a tree which was hard to see.
I just got pulled over yesturday for doing 30 over. Didn't have my V1 with me since I sold it a few months back. But I got away with no ticket thanks to my off duty friend that was in the car with me

my cousin and I were driving one time and he has a passport 8500 x50 and he said that everytime i would in direct site of him, his POP radar warning would go off. So his radar was going off for awhile before he just turned it off. I guess other radar detectors can set off your radar detector.

and yeah... the X is pretty annoying I have that turned off too.

just be careful because alot of small towns still use X band.. not so much in the city anymore, police usually use Ka or Laser... not even K that much anymore.. but out in the rural areas, K and X are still used alot.. at least around here.

true I have seen a cop with X band before.

around Maryland there arent too many xband false alarms, so i just leave the detector on for all the bands

the first time it happened i was like, whaaa?, but then when i saw that it was consistent with the way a K or Ka alarm goes off and i saw the police car, i was like, dang, good to know
