Calling all Audiophiles!

I have a 2006 Accord EXL V6 sedan with the factory non-premium HU...

I want nice crisp clear Highs with crisp clear lows and mids... I want to be able to turn it up pretty loud without it distorting in anyway... And I do not want to run subs in the rear unless its a necessity.

I would like to know what the best option(s) for me are:

-I want to keep my stock HU
-I want to add an amp
-I want to replace my interior speakers (I have JBL GTO927 6x9s in the rear deck already... Dont know if I should replace those or not... You guys tell me that.)

My budget will most likely be around $500

Thank you

for that budget you'll have a hard time achieving the quality sound you want. if you want crisp highs and mids on a stock HU, you'll need something like a JL Audio Cleansweep, then usually for high volume speakers without a lot of distortion you'll need something along the line of Hertz speakers (not cheap) and a significant amp to power them.

friend of mine has hertz speakers in the cabin and the front and rear speakers ran him over a grand alone. then came the $400 amp and all the wiring. THEN the $200-300 cleansweep.

maybe someone else and price together a setup for you because i dont know a LOT LOT about audio, just what my friends and i have in our cars.

^^^so true. headunit is the most important for best sound quality imo. then the speakers.

headunit: eclipse CD7200 mk2

speakers: DLS R6A - DLS 6.5" 2-Way

and i would put a single 10 inch sub in the trunk. without sub/s it just don't sound right.

so my choice would be the IDMAX 10.

this is going to cost you a bit though. not alot just a bit.

i personally think a cd7200 would be too much for someone's first system.

oh i gots to check this out. i loved my 880prs. i sold that last year so i can just use my factory stereo. big mistake. i hated the sound even though i had the jl clean sweep. so i ended up just putting an entry level pio stereo in the cubby for now and was gonna upgrade to the eclipse cd7200 soon but didn't come around to doing it.

now ima look in to the 800prs.

get a ND-G500 amp and a parrot harness. The amp is 200w 22rms old and 12rms new rating. that under 100 bucks. I already have some infinity speakers in the rear and alpine type r in the front. Good enough for me nice mild bass and I can hear new frequency that I never heard before, and sometimes it hurts. lol It should have been plug and play buck there is no freaken room behind the OEM H/U.

Here some half ass wiring since I the one that it came with was too long and the other 2 short

I am waiting for my male to male headphone jack so I can plug in my nuvi 760 and have bluetooth, navi, and mp3 over the stock stereo. It does this by muting the OEM radio.

Ok so just out of curiosity... Lets say I just want to upgrade my front 6.5"s for now... Would a 3-way speaker sound good up front while keeping my tweeters stock, and my JBL 6x9s in the rear?

Or would 3-ways up front be overkill?

Ok guys here is the scoop.

I just replaced the driver's side factory Honda tweeter with one of the JBL GTO tweeters... Spliced the JBL tweeter into the factory tweeter wiring without JBL crossover...

BIG difference in sound! The highs with the JBL are MUCH clearer and LOUDER than the factory tweets!

BUTTT there is one thing I am noticing... When I am playing a song with a lot of bass, the tweeter kind of *claps* when the bass hits.

Could there be lows going to the tweeter? If there werent lows going to the factory tweeter then there shouldnt be lows going to the JBL tweeter if I just spliced into factory wiring right?

Is this normal? Is it anything to worry about?

Thanks

you need the cross over... Or else you will not get the correct frequency output for the tweeters. Also it could be cuz the new tweeters are super sensitive then the oem one. The oem 1 are crap..

Well, How do I hook up the crossover? Hook the factory tweeter wires into the crossover and then hook the tweeter wires into the crossover?

Also, there is a green/black wire, and a white wire for the factory tweeters on the driver's side... Which is the pos. which is the neg?

And which is pos. and neg. for the pass. side?

Thank you

Ok guys, I think that my JBL tweeters may just be a little too harsh for my personal tastes as of right now... I want to be able to hear as much as I can when it comes to highs, and to me it seems that with the JBLs, I get mostly voice...

I am looking into other options... I spoke to a local audio shop today and he recommended the JL audio C2-650 component system to me.... He said he sold it to a few of his friends who are audio "gurus" and they love the speakers... I found them for a pretty good price online... Anybody heard of them?

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?comp_id=526

Thanks

Go on caraudio.com. They have plenty of reviews on speakers over there.
