Question How would I stop my trunk from rattling?

I got a 800W fi SSD 12" sub and a 500W amp. It is in my trunk and when i play it....there is this squeaky sound which is a wire that lights the license plate lights. and when i close my trunk the entire thing rattles unless i sit on my trunk. also if i apply pressure to the top of my trunk, it doesn't rattle as much. I am in a 2001 Accord EX-L. I only have $200 on me, so you know my limitations...

Any cheap way to cut out most of the rattle? Mainly the squeaking sound, which i can hear from inside.

dynamat does work wounder, but still wont eliminate all of it,unless you go all out and line everything in the trunk area, put some on the back of your license plate.
look at ebay for good deals on the trunk kit they sell..or hush-mat,or any other competing sound proofing stuff.Audio stores will rape you on the price of it.

^^ Agreed. Usually the license plate is the first thing to rattle on the trunk. What happens is, the rear license plate is only connected by 2 screws on the top of the plate...so the bottom flaps against the trunk. Take some double sided tape (cheap) and tape down the bottom 2 corners of the license plate. Looks like you have a sedan...which is what I have...and this is what was rattling for me. I have a sub in the trunk and no rattles now.

yeah first thing i did was my license plate, that cut 30% of the rattle. the rest is my trunk. and this reallllllllly annoying squaking sound comming from this one plug on the lid. i am actually thinking of dynamat btw. but is fat mat a good alternative?

a piece of hose cut lengthwise then placed between the (trunk) springs took care or my problems.

take a picture of what you think is rattling I'm pretty sure I can help you figure out a way to stop it from rattling

I'm pretty anal about rattling. I worked my 5-6 rattles down to just one now ( something in my roof)

i went so far as to take apart my entire rear seats just to find out it was my rear seat belts that were rattling ( i ended up messing up two.. long story) but at least no more rattles

I went the ghetto/cheap route and put cardboard behind my tag. I just have to replace it every couple months. LOL!

I have a 1000w amp and two 12s, kinda sucks to hear the rattling.

Surprisingly what worked for me was to put some padding (from home depot) behind the license plate and take off the trunk spring. The trunks doesn't pop up 1/3 of the way when you open it. But that didn't bother me, I rather eliminate the rattling.
