Yes you can, and it is VERY simple. I can give you links to the programs you can use, there are a few, but I recommend one that is a all-in-one step. Let me know.

search around on google for a program called DVD Decrypter. This will allow you to see each area of the dvd, what you want to do is only select the big file (the movie itself, no extras) and you want to have the english selected. it will then take a while and really put your computer to work so dont do anything on your computer while it's ripping the dvd. You'll then have a approx 7gb file on your computer. You then need to use a program called Videora iPod Converter to convert that massive 7gig file into the ipod sized file.

for more info/how-to's, go here: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html#1000

that link basically show everything i said in detail along with pics. but just so you know, in most cases for widescreen movies, you'll have to make the video file bigger than the size of the ipod's screen (320x240) in order to keep the correct aspect ratio. This is what i've learned, when resizing your videos in Videora, the height MUST be a minimum of 240pixels no matter how much wider the width of the movie is... for instance... if you make the videos at 320x177(widescreen) the empty space in the height will cause the video to be streched up so you have to make the video 4XX x 240 so that the ipod can downsize it on its own without any distortion.

I know, its confusing sometimes but just be patient and do several runs for practice and you'll get it.

MAC users are lucky because they have a program called Handbrake which does everything, DVD directly to ipod sized video in one step. PC users have to do a little more work.

oh,and BUMP for the video ipods!

i've got a black 60gb and i love it, i used the educational discount and brought my price down to $369 but when you apply tax to that, it goes back up to $402 and shipping is free from apple so i got it exactly for that price. so $380 shipped is saving you money!
