if it's a TL-S engine...best you're gonna get as far as a tranny is 5spd tiptronic. which may be easier than a 6mt swap. interested in knowing the price too!

Anyone interested in doing the 3.2L w/ 6spd swap, you will need an ECU from a CL-S w/ 6MT and also some sensors off the engine that was in a manual car. In other words expect to spend at least another $500 to make this engine work w/ a 6MT

Also, the TL-s autos are just as bad as ours if not worse. Dont mean to ruin thread just want to warn fellow members.

There were no M/T TL's made from 99-2003...

Or before that, for that matter...

Again, these engines were not made for a manual tranny. The harness, ecu etc. etc. is no good to you only the main engine and for that you will need to buy some different sensors. Those sensors alone will prolly run u around $1000. Plus you will need to find a 6 speed manual tranny.
So, basically you will be paying just under $2k for a 3.2L engine w/ a crappy tranny that we already have. Plus the laber to install it and all the problems that go with it. Better off buying a s/c or doing NA build-up on current engine.
If these were engine from a 6MT CL-s then thats a different story, but there not.

In the orginal post you said the type-s engine came out of a 2001 TL? There were no type-s TL's made in 2001. The type-s was only for the 2002-2003 model TL.

What is the engine code on the motors that you're selling? That'll be the definitive answer to all the "type-s vs base" questions.
