FS: 6th gen coupe custom sub box w/sub

Okay, no messing around on this. Either you want it or you dont. I dont want to part it out since it's designed for this particular sub. Sure it'll work with others, but with this sub all sealed up the bass sounds TIGHT.

In my spare time, I made a 12" fiberglass subwoofer box that fits in the drivers rear corner of the trunk. It's not 'professional' but it's quite nice. It needs to be covered in carpet to finish it out... but I left it in raw glass form. It points the subwoofer toward the passenger compartment and is slightly angled up. This box is STRONG. You can stand your entire weight on it and it will not flex. It is a sealed enclosure, and I used the specs on Polks website to measure out the proper parameters.

Polk says that the sub will output a resonant Frequency of 31 Hz if the sealed box is Vas 2.25 cu.ft. So I built my box, filled it with styrofoam peanuts, then dumped them out to measure out the cu.ft. I have it at exactly 2.27 so it sounds VERY nice. I'm not an audiophile, so I dont have crazy specs on it - this was a home project that I think turned out REALLY well.

Some of you have seen this at the Cerittos meet. I didnt bump it too hard becuase the fiberglass/resin was still cureing and I hadnt finished sealing the box completely so it was not sounding perfect yet.

Anyway, the subwoofer is a Polk Momo 12" MM2124.

Overall Frequency Response 23-200 Hz
Nominal Impedance 4 ohms
Minimum Impedance 3.3 ohms
Power Handling (continuous) 400 w
Power Handling (peak) 800 w
Efficiency 88 dB
Voice Coil Diameter: Driver 2" (5.08cm)
Magnet Weight 60.00 oz.
Product Weight 19.00 lbs.

I'm asking for $200 shipped. The sub alone cost $169, and I have more than $60 plus all my time into the enclosure. Shipping on an item this heavy will be A LOT. So I think it's a fair deal to ask $200. If you SERIOUSLY feel like lowballing me, feel free to shoot an offer. I'll just ignore the stupid stuff. Thanks guys!

Yes I am - in fact, I've already purchased it's replacement. An FD3S RX-7 out of Calli. I'll have it shipped to it's new home by next week. The honda was sold to my younger brother who will likely be joining v6p very soon.

I wish it would fit - I'm thinking that the sedans rear end is different. Have a look at my pics and see if it looks like your cars...

Wow you already got rid of your AV6? Well hope you can sell everything. Shane's a really cool guy, very down to earth and I think he's trustworthy.

OT: Post pics of the FD!

YES YES, I still want the iPod! Thanks for the support guys. This will be a community to miss... but I'll check in on everyone from time to time. I can post pics of the FD when I get her to the new home.

i use to own a 1994 FD .. really nice ride, chic magnet for sure...at the time i had it, i would hear random people saying "its vin diesel's car" or "damn, nice corvette" lol...

but you'll be back ... i owned the 7 for a very short time ..the only problem was, the car spent more time at the mechanic than on my driveway .. but good luck on your car, dont mean to discourage u, it has a lot of potential, and if i was rich, id buy that car in a heart beat so i can keep up wit maintenance...

neways...how does the sub box look from the back? where do the speaker wires come out from? and how does the box mount onto the side? is it bolted down or does it jus sit ther? thanks.

The box is molded to the corner of the car where the old plastic 'holder' used to sit. There are 5 holes on the inside of the box you use wood panel screws to mount it to the carpeted floor and walls. You seal them up after mounting with some silicone and then stuff the box. The speaker wires come out at the backside top of the box and you silicone them into place afterwards too. Pretty simple thing to do. It fits snug, so if you dont screw it into place then it probly wont slide anyway. Hope that helped some - I dont have pics of the back of the box. :/
