I actually use a pair of these in my car (albeit boosted, but that's another story). They're quite reliable and have a water-resistance cover. As previously stated, the ignitor and bulb plug are both waterproof. An OEM ballast is an OEM ballast. They all meet stringent standards and these particular ballasts can be found on the Audi TT and BMW 3 series.

The use of a harness is not needed, which is the beauty of these ballasts. They will accept power from a 9006 low-beam plug.

Yes, provided you have either:
1) D2S projector using a D2S bulb
2) D2R bulb in a reflector housing
3) kit bulb with AMP->D2S adapter.
