well if you dont have an HD tv, then no, i mean it will play the movies, but you would not see a difference.
Just like if you ordered HD chanels with your cable/direct TV, there would be no difference.
You gotta have a TV that is 720 or 1080 in resolution and HD.
But on my little 32" HD 720 tv, yes there was a difference. And on our 61" 1080 HD tv there was an even better difference!

Yes you can play regular Dvds in this player.
Some of these HD dvds you can flip over and play in a regular player cause one side is HD and the other side is regualr.
(Kind of like how they do now with regular dvds where one side is full screen and one side is wide screen)

Ideally to see full results you need a TV that supports full 1080p

Very true ^^^

but i have a 720p and 1080i tv and they both look the same, 1080P tho is an even better picture. 720p (for the price) is still nice!

720 is what is broadcasted over your HD cable or direct TV.

1080 gets into HD dvd, blue ray, and video games like the 360 and PS3

No offense but the price is a bit high on this. The A2 is a gen old, doesn't do 1080p and 5 of the movies (the unopened ones) are freebies that you can mail in and get with any HD-DVD player. You can get a brand new A2 for $240 right now (Amazon).

Just saying.

The A2 is not a gen old cause it has not been replaced. They came out with an A20 that now uses 1080p but is $100 more than the A2 (only difference)

That is a good price however at Amazon.

Price stays however, id be better off keeping the item than to sell less.
