New Car

well i just got a new old car
its a dark grey audi 100 quatro 5 speed

reason;
winter / ski car, i have a rocky mountian super pass so i plan on going skiing about every weekend, and at 250-300 mile round trip per day i really didnt want to put that many miles on my cord... so i got this 5 cylinder audi for 500 bucks it runs decently right now, but it sputters at idle (injectors and spark plugs are fouled - its spitting a bit of black smoke -, and power steering leaks) but with injector cleaner and new spark plugs it should run fine, plus im getting a free check / tune up done by my friend at his shop, the interior is very nice, leather seats in good condition, front heated memory seats, ac and heater, carpet is in good condition, it even has a sun-roof, the clutch feels great and it shifts just as smooth as any other audi ive driven. I can also lock the rear differential for added traction... its also got super dark tint

the 2.3, 5 cyl has soooo little torque but once it gets above 4000 rpm's it scoots pretty well (it will probably be much pepier with new plugs and clean injectors)

and the person that had it before me put a no name rice can on it, and it kinda suprised me, I didnt think a 5 cyl could sound this good, it sounds very similar to a WRX engine with exhaust..

and yes i still have the accord, and yes i am still going to turbo the accord, i just didnt want to put 300+ miles a week on it

thanks, its getting a tune up right now, my buds doing it in his spare time so it might be until next week but i'll get picts and sound / video clips as soon as i can. Ive also got to get an oil and coolant temp gauge so that i can keep an eye on it to make sure it will actualy make it up to winter park or copper...

i may do a ghetto intake and cheapy custom exhaust.. but thats later

500 bucks to save my car from about 5,000-7,000 miles of winter driving per winter is the main reason i got it.

volvo commonly uses 5 cylinder engines, they still do, the H3 is a 5 cyilinder, so is the colorado and a slew of other cars... remarkabley it has a very distinct sound like an inline 4 with an extra burble, which makes it resemble a wrx exhaust note. the 5 cyl also has exelent power delivery on the top end
heres a sound clip of a 2.5 5 cyil volvo

suprisingly mine doesns smoke like that just sum black smoke (means un burnt fuel)

Probably right about the v10.

Didn't know they were still using those in newer cars. Must be a good compromise between power and fuel efficiency that keeps it around.

its a nice engine, just driving it around on 2 gallons i was getting close to 35mpg

also it takes a while to get to 60 but it seems to take an equal amount of time to get to 120, defenitly has a great top end compared to my NA accord

And your top end will only get better if you open up the airways in the future. But you're right to be more worried about plugs and wires right now. Check to make sure all fluids are in good shape too.

all the fluids are ok, except the power steering, which is pretty much toast, but the car isnt that bad without power steering, nothing at all like our cars if the engine stalls, it just seems like a heavier wheel...
