My new GTO

I'm just reserving a space for now and going to upload tonight cool new pics including a pile of weight reduction parts .

Also decided to create this thread due to the following:
a. not clutter this thread anymore - http://www.v6performance.net/forums/...t=84584&page=6
b. there is no action here, so I thought I will add something new

Stay tuned

Ahhh congrats GTO, one of my favorite cars. I've been bugging one of my managers to let me drive his GTO one day.

wow modding already....

for headers the LG pro long-tube headers are the best for the LS1-LS2 engines, for exhaust i recommend B&B Bullet exhaust

what kind of intake do you have ? they are some good choices like Volant, K&N, i am not sure if Halltech makes intakes for GTO's, i know they make for the corvette.

oh don't forget the B&M rip shifter, great mod.

Debadging has been done to make it look clean. See below pics , details are there and it's auto.

Going with coated Kooks LT headers with good cats soon and maybe just different mufflers or h-pipe. I want louder than stock but not TOO loud for daily driver . Intake is LPE (Lingenfelter) which insulates better than K&N plus I've got a good deal on it otherwise would go with Volant. And mine is auto 4L65

I know a local mechanic who previously did some complex installation on my AV6 and now owns modded GTO.

Weight reduction = 90lbs . From 3725lbs (from the factory) to 3635

Can someone enlighten me on why the domestic guys dislike the GTO? I think it looks pretty nice but they refer to it as the "GOAT."

Why sell the Accord for this?

I dunno, but any car with an LS motor stuffed in it is fine with me. I wish they had GTO's up here. Stupid Canadian bumper laws, we dont even get EVOs . So what does the wifey think of the new beast or is she not allowed to drive it LOL.

very nice bro. Do you still have your accord too? A friend of mine just got a GTO a couple months ago that is pretty nice. What kind of gas mileage do you get on the GTO?

Ask those stupid mustang drivers who is the Goat when the GTO blows by them. I would much rather have the GTO than the mustang anyday. The new GTO looks modern and pwerful. The new mustang looks like what it is. A remake of the old stang. Nice car dude.

I think because if you transpose two letters, add an 'a', you get GOAT.

LS2 for the WEEEEEN! What a magnificent machine Take good care of her.

There's a guy I know that bought a GOAT(Auto/stock), stuck a 150 shot of the good stuff and ran low 12's all day long at the track.

edit: i stand corrected. 11.5 @ 120mph

Thanks.
Yes soon for sale. The SC/IC kits are removed and soon for sale. AV6 stands now as NA, light weight and ready for J32A2 oriented individual.

My combine average mileage with GTO is 18mi/gal which is good IMO while car being factory rich. Will change that soon with tuning

GTO stands for Grand Turismo Omologato which is Italian and GTO is an American car. So the ďGoatĒ is a nickname which came from enthusiasts who didn't want to say the 3 syllables of GTO.

The probable reason the sales have not been impressive was because they decided to call it a GTO. If GM/Pontiac brought this car here and called it something crazy like the Asteroid or the Gazelle, or even simply the Monaro as it is, none of the automotive press or the old GTO faithful would have had anything negative to say about it not being true to the old GTO's appearance. After that, there's really nothing negative anyone has said about the car. But calling it a GTO and pricing it in the low 30's set it up for comparison against the whole retro craze Mustang and Charger/Challengers when its really a non-retro, modern, high-performance, semi-luxury oriented 2+2. Additionally, the fact that itís an import is not well known.

And here is why I own one:
a. Best value out there
b. Limited production vehicle
c. Corvette LS2 engine with needed back seat and comfy interior
d. Typically change cars every 5 years, so AV6 needs to go and I had fun with it.

Find me a factory vehicle with 400hp/400tq for $24,300 + tax. Yes, thatís what I paid. The GTO is a hit in my book and I appreciate its exclusivity. Who wants to be like everybody else and see one on every corner? I notice maybe 3-4 GTO per week, not thousands of every model/make out there. Bottom line, this is a unique adult sports car Iím happy to own that chirping in 3rd gear and putting bus lengths on 99% cars on the street.

She wasnít crazy about it at first since she is totally brand oriented individual who drives X5. Then, I let her drive and she asked if it was turbo . Eventually, she calmed down after my friends who own 335i, 911 turbo, E550, 745i, etc. told her it was the right choice for the money and performance. Yet, the difference I would pay for 335i I can put aside and invest into another property within a year and have a free education in 18 years for our 6-mo.old baby twins along with some reward for us. She is happy now .
