My "Wtf-is-wrong-with-SUV-owners"

I've been watching some MTV Cribs lately. In case you haven't noticed, EVERYONE on that show has an Escalade.

Original:

What every Cribs owner has: (Big rims, wider tires, different Paint)

What makes certain crib owners stand out. LOWERED. There is no point in lowering an SUV. Why would you want to lower an SUV. It's like an SUV that got neutered. Kind of like putting a slower engine in a ferrari. Sorry it is my rant of the week. but here it is: (yeah i know it's dirty but i haven't lowered before so I gave it a quick 2min try)

well, its not like guys who buy escalades, EXTs, Navis or X5s are gonna take them offroad anyway, even tho they are relatively capable.

i would love a dark red escalade EXT lowered a little bit on 22s, to get rid of wheel gap. ill still have enough ground clearance, much more than my accord now

yeah I know, but firstly I don't think theres a point in having an SUV unless you travel harsh terrain or want to feel all big and bad towering over the road. But how do you tower over the road when you've lowered it to the heigh of a mustang?

Just saw a commercial... Luxury SUV. Oxymoron?

Theoretical situation - ie: Family Minivan with Sport Package (incl. Sport Suspension and aero package.) Sounds stupid don't it?

Oh... that gives me an idea! *Chops away*

So true. There are times that I wonder why people with pickups/trucks drop their ride so low that it loses the functionality of the vehicle...then I look at this site

True. But adding power and speed to an economy car is a win situation. Plus, it still retains the functionality of what was intended. A daily driver with good gas mileage. Although i'm not a fan of adding serious power to an AT car.

yea, adding an intake and **** to make extra power, thats win win really. but lowering it 2 inches and and slapping a body kit on it with 19s, a system that takes up 90% of the trunk, and more TV screens than the average house takes away most of its funtionality and usefulness

but i do see where you are comin from. to each his own.

Agreed. But I'd rather roll on stockies and just add to the engine.

I think they look better lowered but thats my opinion. 90% of suv owners will never take them offroad and most of the people that need an suv for hauling or something usually would but a truck over an suv. On another note a lot of the nicer suvs don't ride like a truck and are more comfortable of a ride like a car. As far as cribs come on you think those guys are going to ride around stock. Gotta be a baller lol

i also look at it in terms of Sports cars as well.
There are some people I see frequently that have NICE ass sports cars (NSX, Ferarri, Corvette) that don't really take their cars out where it belongs (i.e. curvy, windy roads or the track).
They just drive them around as daily drivers.
Why? I guess because they CAN.

I guess its the same for the owners of those SUV's that lower them. They do it because they CAN.
I wish I could get to that status

That's not the point though (the money).

It's a SPORT utility vehicle. That was my initial rant.

BMW refuses to classify the X5 as an SUV, they define it as a Sports ACTIVITY Vehicle

And to add to that rant the ones that don't lower theirs still stop and roll over rail road crossings at 1mph! Bought a freakin SUV with the upgraded suspension to go over bumps slower than the low riders do! WTF
