Talking tell me what i'm doing wrong

okay i still can't figure out how to cell shade. this is what i got so far:

what are you drawing ur lines with? doenst look like the pen tool

try using a bigger picture too

the pen too doesn't go solid. when i press "esc" it deletes the pen tool so i use the brush and that's why it's not so straight lol.

what you have to do is select the brush tool and make it a 2 pixel brush and then select the pen tool and then make the line on the car and when your ready to brush it in, just Right Click and select Stroke Path and it will most likely give you a better line that what you have so far.

and yeah, try to use a bigger pic, its much easier on big pics. oh and instead of making the pic black and white like you did, just use the original pic but change the brightness so you can see it better otherwise its kinda hard to see what's shadow,highlight, and whats actual color on your car.

aaah ok thanks a bunch. the pen tool and brush tool part is where i didn't quite understand at first. now i got it.

can you tell me how to make shade, highlight etc?


i'll try to do another one when i get a bigger pic of my car hehe

shading and highlighting are essentially similar to outlining. use the pen tool and select around the area which you want to shade and then Right Click and select Fill Path, and for shadows make sure that you make it black and for highlights make it white, or you can do the more complicated way like i did on my cell shade, using 3 shades for shadows and 2 shades for highlights. after you shade that area, just Right Click again and select delete path.
