Nice work!
I"ll need to save that to my comp when I get home.
Reminds me of the stuff that is on www.visualparadox.com and www.digitalblasphemy.com
I get a lot of my wallpaper from them.

Looks good to me. I'm sportin' the Vista theme right now, otherwise I would make it my background.

Nah, didn't know that. My comment was just random.

I've tried to go through some PS tutorials to do some of those abstract images, but they usually end up different than the finished product.

Try to remember that the tutorial isnt there for you to duplicate their image, it's there for you to learn the methods and experiment on your own with your own source images

I'm assuming most of you don't have widescreen monitors, so if you want, I can remake these to match your resolution. Just ask

Wasn't using a tutorial, but basically, for the images in the center I used a LED flashlight and my DSLR camera on time exposure. Turned the lights off in the room, set a 5 second exposure, pretty high F-stop and low ISO...and started raving with the flash light

Take that picture, trim it a bit, use the magic eraser to get rid of the black background. Array it around a central point in the picture to make some sort of pattern (think making paper snowflakes when you were little). Duplicate layers, play with blending options such as color dodge, linear light, etc..

As far as the background, I took a random nighttime picture, and motion blurred it into a linear gradient basically. Underneath that I made a pattern from scratch: Created 3 layers, did the following on all 3 layers using slightly different settings: Used Render>Clouds, Pixelate> Mosaic, Find Edges, Glowing Edges. Used a linear dodge and screen on the top two layers of the pattern. Played with opacity.

Really that's all it was, just start messing with options in photoshop

Next time I do one, if I have alot of time, I'll post a step-by-step tutorial

Who knew boredom (and some raving) could create such interesting images .
