Mass Laws..

Just talked to Midas about exhaust stuff adn they said AM mufflers are now illegal in mass, and they wont install it. said that i would also fail emissions.

So i looked it up on sema and the thing is called House Draft 652. It says filed. or prefiled so dont know if its a law as yet or not. enh im not concerned about getting a fix it ticket, im more worried about emissions. any of you guys got emissions lately with that law in effect?

on a more worrying note, have you guys heard bout the possible FEDERAL headlamp laws? on making anything but oem illegal?

There's a meineke that will do things for cash on the quincy/braintree border. Not that I would know or anything..haha

Are you saying that retrofits could soon be outlawed too?

thats what sema website says that a new federal law is being considered to make any kind of AM lighting illegal...

that would royally fudge us

now u spose i would fail an emissions inspection if i have an am exhaust? or would i have to do the dirty dirty and get by?

well if you keep your catalyst, it should be fine cause all you;re changing is the piping and the mufflers. Unless there is a soundcheck, the exhaust gases should be the same as oem spec in terms of pollutants.

my parents live in CT, so i use that as my "home" address, even though i live in boston. its a whole lot cheaper with insurance, still have CT plates on my car, and can adhere to the CT DMV laws (less harsh with lights, exhaust, no front license plate required, no yearly inspections, etc) --- it works out pretty good

ct and mass taxes are pretty much the same. 5.35%. the only difference is that in mass you can deduct 25% of your rent from ur state taxes.

mass is a very anal state when it comes to vehicle laws and emissions.

i think mass is the leader amongst the new england states to try and follow california emissions. my 6spd is ULEV. which means i lose out 7 hp...

oh and yeah HD 652 means no AM exhausts....at all..
