belts squeeking on the miata

I recently replaced my dads 99 miata's alternator [first thing to go out in 101,000miles, nice] Anyways it was pretty simple. I put everything back together, and first thing that happens after I start it up is the belts go crazy squeeling. There are 2 belts btw. I had only touched the alternator belt, and it was the only one making noise. I tightened the belt down, and that helped. Tightened it down again, and it didn't do much. Now the belt has only a little slack left in it, and I don't think it needs to be tightened down again. Is there some speacial mazda thing Im missing here?
Yes, Im still here and watching silently....

Hmmm...I don't know

Maybe it's a loose pulley? My cousin's '98 626 was making a squealing noise one time, so we looked under the hood and saw that one of the pulleys was loose and wobbling around
