Unfortunately, that's the price you have to pay for quality these days Hopefully the Stone Headers will work out and there will be quality headers for the AV6 that are affordable. I'm sure a company will come out with more affordable headers for the Mazda 6, too. More products just take time. Look how long it has taken the 6th gen AV6 to get the aftermarket it has now. Over 5 years

welp

i still consider 700 a lot, especially since draxas is saying that it may net gains of only 10 whp?
and apparently the headers f' with the cpu...causing the engine to run rich
:T
looks like i'll just be getting an exhaust bent up for me and an intake, and wait for some dyno-tested headers

the msds headers...i couldn't find any dyno charts for 'em. can any of you?

$700 is a lot of money IMO, too. But it's hard to find any bolt-on mods that can give you the same amount of HP for less money. Pullies are an exception but do they even make pullies for the 6 yet?

Here's the dyno of a 6s automatic with the MSDS headers. There are other mods with them so it's hard to tell how much the headers add by themselves

Ehh... the Greddy cat-back exhaust for the MX-6 is like $600 and it only add at most 5whp, our hotshot head is like $500 and it add maybe 5~7hp, hotshot intake is like $250 and it add 1~3hp. Don't forget these price are current price and the six has been around for 10 years, so $700 on a set of headers that will add 10whp for a new car isn't that bad IMO

Everything's relative, right?

Not regarding this, to me.
Thanks for the info TH23
but to me, 700 for headers (plus intake and exhaust probably)
for 15 whp is MEASLY.

There's a dyno on mazda6club.com (supposedly; I can't search through the 60 pages that come up with the use of the search function) that shows ~22 WHP gain with just an INJEN intake. Ridiculous, I know, but that figure has been repeated again and again on those forums.

626, man...just throw a different engine in there if you're looking for pure power. My friend's cobra...throw on one single bolt-on mod and you're looking at like an instant 20+ horsepower. There IS no replacement for displacement.

Sincerely,
bitter japanese owner who's actually happy with his car but...just complains for the sake of it sometimes

I found the Injen intake dyno for the 6s. Here's the dyno:

It's really small but you get the idea of what kind of gains to expect from the Injen CAI.

Here's the thread on it on www.mazda6club.com/forums :

http://www.mazda6club.com/forums/read.php?TID=9091

I hope this helps

That would be the KL-ZE, but you are looking for $1500 ~ $3000 depends on what you getting and who install it, and you gain 30hp Being a Japanese car owner, we probably won't get decent hp gain with small amount of money, unless we go F/I Like the turbo kit for my MX-6 is like the same amount of getting a KL-ZE, but it can push the six up to 300+hp with stock interior, and the KL-ZE is only 195hp "if" you tune it right

I'd be saving up for a turbo if I knew it would get me 300+HP That is if I had a 5-speed MX-6 I wouldn't dare turbo my automatic AV6, too much money would be needed to replace the transmission plus the turbo would have to be custom made.

I can tell modding your car is low on your priority list Nothing wrong with that especially considering you're a student in medical school. When it's all over you won't have to worry about saving up for little things anymore

Your car will be really fast with the turbo It's good that you got all of the other mods out of the way first.

BTW, have you ever taken your car to the track? If so, what have you run?

Just make sure you keep your stock rims on for the track if you get rims before then. Bigger rims would slow down your car a lot

Yea, plus I won't have money for rims right now, need some saving so I can go boost

But it'll be a different story if I can find a set of these/RX-7 wheels for a decent price

I wote to Draxas and talked to a guy named Nikolas and he told me that with the headers they put in some Check Engine Light device type thingy that keeps the CEL from coming on but the pipe also comes with enough room to weld in a high flow cat. So maybe that might help the the fuel problem. Also with the Injen Intake and some straight through mufflers you might get a little more than 10whp. I have no idea what adding headers will add. I'm in Colorado at a little more than a mile high. I'll be lucky to get 6 at the wheels but allowing to let the car breathe at its maximum, you'll probably get more.
