AutoX Meets season of 2009

PLEASE READ!!!

I am trying to get this ball rolling. Alot of dead meets lately and not alot of activity.

Please Note the events that are in WV are about 20 minutes away from my house. I am willing to have my house as a meet point and setup a nice caravan with everyone before we head out to the track for every WV Event.

We could do a BBQ, So long as everyone pitches in for things we could have a nice decent pre-BBQ track meet every WV event as well.

Quoted from TommySalami of Acurazine.

To those who don't know what autocross is, you can read the link below to find out about it. It's basically where a club takes a huge parking lot and turns it into a track.

Summit Point raceway just opened up an autocross track, and it looks like it's going to be freakin amazing. Here's a drawing someone made comparing the different venues we race at:

Here's the list of events for Capital Driving Club this year, which is the club I go with. Registration for the events opens a few weeks before, and if you want to sign up put that you are a guest of Tom Layton. For non-members it is $35 for 6 runs.

I plan to join CDC this season and hope to get to a few of these these events along with a couple friends. Last year I mainly watched to get a feel for what Auto-X is all about. I live just a few miles from the Baysox location, so those are the ones I will most likely participate in.

My car is finally set up pretty well so I'm really looking forward to getting into Auto-X.

Hope to see you all out there this season!

Yes guys, fast driver vs fast car. Not $25+ to run 13 sec passes and get only a few runs in.

Will they laugh you off the lot if you show up with lightweight 18's?

I know about unsprung weight and rotational mass, but I just want to try it and have fun without buying 15" racing wheels and Falken Azenis.

I don't think it will be much fun though if I can't pony up for a bigger rsb first.

i raced with 18s in one event.. no one will laugh at u or say anything about what ur running unless you have a big plastic fake supercharger stuck to your hood or something obviously retarded. it's just about what times you can run, not how u run it

Seriously every event I've ever been to have a nice environment. All cool people and it's really a challenge of you the driver and the car. Domestic, Import, Euro...whatever. Run whatcha brung.

They even say you don't need all the fancy smanscy suspension mods and all that. Just show up with good tires and be prepared to learn something. You usually embrace those mods after you are ready to take it to the next level.

I know it was a huge learning experience for me. Although I'm more involved in Road racing than Autox. Both are fun and really shows what your vehicle and yourself are capable of.

It's not like those quarter mile knuckleheads who always have to bash on your car if you can't run lower than 11 secs.

Really well for my first go at Auto-X. My starting time was much faster than I had anticipated. I was initially just trying to finish without going off course, but to my suprise, I tore that sh1t up instead. My times pregressively got better as the day went on. My final run was my fastest and that was with a passenger riding along.

Check out the results. Look for Celestion of course

I will be at the May Bowie event. Anyone else gonna show up? Even if you all don't run it would still be great if you came out and watched. Its a really fun atmosphere! But I must warn you, its hard to just watch and if you do ride along you will want to run for sure.

I must admit, it is sooo much fun! If you do it you will be hooked!

Alright guys...

I'm bumping this thread cuz its now May and the next CDC Auto-X event is on the 23rd in Bowie. I plan on being there so I was wondering who will be joining me? Hopefully we can get a few Accords out on the course. I was the only one last time and actually, the only FWD V6 running. I managed to do better than many of the lighter, smaller RWD and FWD 4bangers, I6's and turbo cars. So it is possible to sling our heavy ass cars around the course and have a fun and successful day. Its soo much fun... but it does beat the sh1t out of your car. hehe

Hopefully we can get a few more of us out there! Respond if you plan to run or just come out to watch me tear up the course! If your lucky I may even give you a ride along!
