Domestic V6 sayin' Hi.

Sup fellas...

Got a nice present from the folks, an 02 V6 Mustang. Not exactly the car I wanted but I'm very much appreciative of it.

I'm pretty new to the customization of cars and such but it's something I enjoy very much. No matter how mundane, everytime I work on my car, I forget about everything else and I enjoy every minute of it.

Appearance wise, I'm slowly transforming my 'tang into a Roush 380R. Performance, I'm extremely poor but I'll be taking out my Air silencer and adding a K&N Air filter.

Simple? Even mediocre? Perhaps, but, slowly but surely I suppose. I don't have a friend or dad with a lot of performance knowledge so I'm trying to teach myself. It'll be worth it in the end.

I'd appreciate any advice or comments you guys have and I hope to learn a lot while I'm here. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the boards.

Just thought I'd let ya know I have a friend at my school that has a v6 mustang. Pretty much bone stock I believe. Dyno'd it during street legal performance class and came out to around 159.9 whp and 195-197 ft-lbs.

Definitely not too damn shabby at all for stock. Torque torque torque.

Thanks guys

and true, I very much agree that for the price, it's a pretty decent car. I just wish Ford invested a little more time into handling.

Another domestic owner, good stuff

Mustangs rule. They look soooo sexy with a roush kit. Have fun with it. You do know the 3.8L v6 has been supercharged in several different cars over the years right? [hint hint ]

See the thing is since your 3.8 is the same basic 3.8 thats been around since the 80's, including supercharged models, you might be able to get the whole setup at a junkyard for VERY cheap. Id do some more research before you go buying stuff though.

im not sure the similarities of the Ford and GM 3.8L models im mainly a GM guy with a 2000 Grand Am GT and a 1989 TTA

Welcome! I was wondering what your fuel economy was, since my freinds Mustang gets 9-10mpg (its a 5.0L though).

the v6 couple 3.8 gets about 20 city i think. pretty crap i'd say.

And the Trans Am is WAY faster than any ford 3.8. I think my stang only runs around 16's stock. TO be comparative, you'd need an SVT cobra, which is a 4.6L.

Just FYI the 3.8L that came stock in my Trans am is the Buick Grand National engine.

Because I want a stick shift. So hopefully someone wants an auto. It's a pretty new car so... I dunno... haven't had any luck yet.
