Rebuild the block. Clevite 77 main and rod bearings, ARP main and head studs, ARP connecting rod bolts, regrind/micropolish the crank, P&P heads, then put all the stuff I never got to use before on. Electric water pump, thinner MLS head gaskets (slight compression bump), new oil-restricted pushrods, XP cam's going back in, aluminum 1.6 roller rockers, LS1 TB, and the intercooler's going back on once I get it from my friend. After all that, tuning, then some more tuning, and after that's done, some more tuning. I have the PCM software, so I'll be changing the shift points/rev limits to coincide with the cam's powerband.

Arizona is a little different than most places. I plan on doing most of the work in the summer and keeping off the track till it cools down.

Since I have some time, looks like I might be changing a few other things as well. I'm going to going to a set of 9:5:1 Diamond forged and coated pistons, Total Seal rings and hot-forged L32 connecting rods too. That means more machine work, a .020" overbore too. I figure I have the damned thing apart and in lots of little pieces, now's the time. I hate waiting longer to get the fawker on the road, but I figure it'll be worth it. This way I can compensate easily for the M90's inefficiencies by bumping the CR. With the forged pistons I can also dispell worrying about chipping one of the damned things thanks to detonation, at least no one's done it yet in the known Grand Prix world, not that I still won't be tuning the **** out of it. That makes more room for a small shot of nitrous as well. I'm looking for 11's on this block, but my biggest concern/wait now is going to be the tranny. Can't wait to change that out.

On your dime.

This has been painful to the wallet, but the engine will be pretty beefy. I'm confident of mid-low 12's @ 113+ on the motor (with some tuning), and with a little nitrous or slicks, 11's, on the daily driver.

ok well ive got some good news...my lower intake manifold gasket is NOT leaking, so i wont be tearing my engine apart this summer...my new project however is that im gonna replace my stock struts with KYB struts. to do this job im gonna buy a new aluminum jack, spring compressor (cheapie), and a set of boxended wrenches.

i always buy craftsman stuff and i saw a nice looking aluminum jack there the other day. is there anything to look for in boxended wrenches though? are there some designs that are better than others?

im also gonna remove the black paint thats on my upper intake manifold and valve covers. i will repaint them silver for a cleaner look. In addition im going to FINALLY replace my lower radiator hose and thermostat with the 180* thermostat. ill post pics of the engine when im done.

I want to do the black housing headlight mod to my Monte, other "projects" include

switch from regular oil to Royal Purple synthetic
New tires
tranny flush/filter/switch to Royal Purple

That's about all I can afford at the moment

Im putting together a worn out 305 to put in my 79 c10 and sell it quickly. Also I am going to finish my 388 stroker. All I need is the custom ground small base circle solid cam and some lifters, also need to get the last head machining tool and work on the heads a bit. I need to strip, paint, and cut the hole in the new hood and put the six pack scoop on. I would like to lower the rear on my 78 c10 another 1-2" so I don't have such a rake but I have to figure out how since I already used shackles and hangers....

Nope. No saleen parts for mine..Well the 4 banger might be able to squeeze it in. But if thats the case, they might as well upgrade to stock v6..the saleen version is putting down about the same numbers before the spray. I'm hoping fora 3L swap next year..My 2.5 is doo doo.

so now i have a new small project. my door panels were falling apart, well the paterial was coming unglued due to a few years ago when i was living in Palm Springs with their really hot summers. the dealer tried to fix it, but they didnt line the material up correctly.

so i went onto ebay and found out that they were parting out the concept Grand Am SC/T found here: http://www.motortrend.com/future/con...acg/index.html

i won the door panels for $36+$30 shipping. Im so excited that i will part of the concept car in my car. the only difference is that the door handels are wrapped in red leather, and i think the panels themselves have real leather, but i could be wrong. ill see when they arrive this week, and ill post up pics. now i can experiment on my old door panels.

I may very well be adding a set of Stage 3 heads here soon. Still doing research, but I did find a couple independent dynos. Peak to peak hp gains were only around 21whp, but after looking closer, the area under the curve with the heads is sick! Here's the before and after dynos-

And here's with the heads, and they're the ONLY addition. Throughout a lot of the powerband are gains of 40-50whp, I guess the max gain was 52whp at some points.

This guy has a few less toys than I do, plus a less aggressive cam and PCM tune. A GTP pushing 340whp is good for high 11's at 115+ in street trim on average, I think this would be rather helpful in my goal to see 11's. Actually, it kinda varies, but I've seen GTP's with around 305whp run 12.3's at 112, though he had taken out his back seat.

They're kinda expensive, but I'm definitely pondering it. That's a pretty fat gain across the powerband, I'd have all sorts of extra power everywhere.

It'll depend on my work schedule and September usually sucks. I don't anticipate having time for the track till Octoberish, I have to have the time to get everything installed too. I know we usually have a Southwest W-body around January at Speedworld here in Phoenix. We get a lane to ourselves, but it usually there's not enough people at Speedworld in January for it matter. We get people from TX, NV, UT, and CA that come in, hopefully we'll do it this year.

Stage 3 heads are on the way, along with a set of Eibach springs. S3 heads have the oversized valves along with lots of P&P, can't wait to see how well it breathes now.
