Toyota Hybrid Cars

When I was in Japan this year I visited the large Toyota Showroom in the Ikebukuro area of Tokyo. I noticed that Toyota is coming out with quite a few hybrid cars. Some of the hybrid cars I saw there were the Crown, Estima, and Prius.

The Prius is nothing new. But what is a Crown and Estima?

There new Synergy drive Prius is incredible!!! 10.1 from 0-60, similiar to the 04 Accord (4 cylinder). Also, similiar to the interior size of the Accord.
There new setup is sick

The gasoline engine:
Power output 76 hp @ 5,000 rpm (57 kW @ 5,000 rpm)
Torque 82 lb.-ft. @ 4,200 rpm (111 N-m @ 4,200 rpm)

The electric engine:
Power output 67 hp @ 1,200-1,540 rpm (50 kW @ 1,200-1,540 rpm)
Torque 295 lb.-ft. @ 0-1,200 rpm (400 N-m @ 0-1,200 rpm)

I think the Civic Hybrid just got outdone . Though the Synergy system in the Prius is basically the same setup in the Civic Hybrid where both engines share the work at the same time. This gives the best of both worlds, efficiency and performance.

All Honda needs to do is give the civic Hybrid a more powerful electric engine and they will be all set .

BTW: The DNX Concept is a vision of things to come IMO. It's a Hybrid sports car, only Honda could have thought this car up .

I drove the 04' Prius 2 weeks ago. that thing was pretty cool.

They are back oredered for like 3 months from what the salesmen said. and they sold 10-20k cars already even before the car was built.

It was a pretty cool car, i wouldnt mind replaceing my accord with the prius for local driving and highway driving to and from school to save gas. (My AV6 is getting 12-18MPG ) this thing gets 60MPG so would save me lots of money.

Felt kinda wierd that when i floored it, it didnt down shift (CVT) lol. and theres no gears which was wierd considering my AV6 jerks into each gear.

The key was cool, it just the remote. with touch button start like S2000. THe shift lever was cool too and to park u just press a PARK button and it puts it in park without touching the shifter. touch screen is cool too. hehe.
