How are mid 90s-late 90s 4runners?

I need a new SUV soon. I've seen 94-97 going for the same price is friggin CR-Vs. So I figure, I'll take advantage of quality, V6, and interior size. Anyone wanna make recommendations?

I really like the 02 4-Runner Limited Edition w/the Highlander package/edition. I was seriously considering it, but I just didn't like the "trucky" feel.

Send a PM/email to Dizzy. I think his wife drives a 97 4Runner but they're taking care of their newborn now so I don't think he's been online much.

As long as you're looking at a 4Runner, you might as well check out the old Pathfinders also. Due to the higher depreciation on Nissans, you could probably get a better deal on one of those. Toyotas hold their value a lot better.

Those are kick-ass as well! It suprises me that a TON of quality vehicles from the 90's are overlooked (especially the Lexus SC 300/400!!!!!!)....I guess everyone needs a screen, dvd capabilities, and navi..lol

The 4Runners' bumpers seem pretty solid. One backed into the side of of my old Saturn with only paint transfer as damage.

Its acceleration didn't seem too bad either as the driver tried to run. Too bad I had their plates already.

Too much. Since it's newer it's double figures. I want to pay like no more than $7000 so probably a few years older.

Even older 4Runners hold their value. lol. If you're looking to spend $7k you'd probably be able to get a much newer and lower mileage pathfinder as compared to the kind of 4runner you could get for that price.

I agree with Steve, check out used Pathfinders. You might get stuck with the weak VG33 engine, but they're still good vehicles

my pops has a 98 Limited and it has proven to be a reliable vehicle.....rides truckish and its not the most nimble of SUV's as far as sharp turning at low speeds....other than that great SUV

Also the truck benefitted and performed well with frequent injector services by the dealership....injectors clogg frequently.....which onfortunatley turned into ~$500 visits...(then again he doesn't believe in using premium fuel- used 89 octane)
