Thinking of getting into an IS300. You guys have some personal thoughts or sugestions? Is it tru that their using the Supra I6? Any one know how much HP you can get out of these with moderate MODs (bolt-ons)? Any other thoughts and insites would be appreciated. Thanks

Yup, the 2JZ-GE is the naturally aspirated version of the Supra engine. Iron block and aluminum heads (vs all iron in the turbo version). A lot of the required turbo plumbing is still present in the NA engine, and the internals are still pretty strong so the engine will take some fairly heavy tuning from what I understand.

My dad has a SportCross wagon he autocrosses. Absolute joy to drive but the things are tooooo quiet stock. Easy to get a ticket when you're not paying attention to how fast you're going and the car doesn't sound like it's going over 30 mph when it's doing 80... lol

Looks great!! I think I saw it in the IS300 website. Did you just get it done resently? What numbers are you getting with that turbo? any other mods. Oh yeah and how much to have it done??

The IS300.......just a stock one does it come with this motor? I assume you added the Turbo Charger......but I am wondering about the IS300. I know nothing about it but I did race a IS300 in the 1/4 mile at Texas MotorPlex and beat it. It was not Turbo but if it has a Supra motor I would have thought it would have been faster. Can someone explain more about the stock vs. this one I assume there are big differences. Sorry I know nothing about Nissans.
First: IS300 is Toyota not Nissan. Nissan Makes Infinity. Yes it is the same I6 thats in the Supra. I asked the same question. SteVTEC said it best if you look up in this thread... also follow the link he gave, to find out more.

It was done by Paisley Automotive. It has a Spearco front mount intercooler, HKS Wastegate, HKS Blowoff Valve, HKS Intake, Custom piping and exhaust manifold, 3-inch down pipe, 3 inch exhaust, HKS hiper muffler. That's the engine stuff. The exterior stuff you can see from the pictures. It has been done for a while, they estimate it is around 350whp. I will bring it to the track and the dyno soon.

Wow.. Very cleanly done. At One Lap of America this year a Canadian group had a turbo IS300 that was just sick. Everything down to Lexan windows, it was one hell of a race car.

Definitely get that thing on a dyno and see how it does. The IS300 is a great platform and all it needs is that extra horsepower.

Cause you can get 600whp on stock internal ISs. And anyway, 5,000 dollars isn't a lot if you're serious about performance.

How are you coming to that conclusion?

A Turbo IS300 putting down 350 at the wheels would have a power to weight ratio just south of a Z06 Vette, and that car runs mid-12's stock! It'd easily be a 12 second car on slicks, low/mid-13's on street tires I bet. Oh yeah, and it's RWD and handles like a dream, too.

IS300Turbo - welcome to the site, and that is one of the sweetest IS300's I have ever seen.

Sorry but I would pick the G35C over the IS300 any day. Out of the block, the G35C would run circle around the IS300.

How are you guys putting headers on IS's? The Cat's damn near mount on the exhuast ports off the cylinder head. I see no room for a header on this car... Unless you're eliminating the cats/exhaust manifold all together...

if you want to check out some bad ass IS300's go to is300.net
lots of sweet cars on there. Peter Farrel Motor Sports does a turbo set up for these cars that is killer. lots of forced induction **** for these cars, i think there is 6 or 7 different companies with turbos, and a couple different super chargers. i'm also thinking of getting one. I would have to keep the honda though, love it to much.

the IS is a great platform to play with because of how solid the chassis is.

its true, the stock 2jzGE block is not fast at all, even with bolt ons. we would be looking at around 210whp with i/h/e/safc. 1/4 would prolly be no better than low 14's.

that is not the reason why most of the ppl buy their IS's. having a similar block as the supra allows the IS to be boost friendly with endless boost potential!!

like the supra, turbo'ed IS's are dyno queens. high HP but 1/4 mile times in the 12's. race one in the highway and prepare to get ass kicked like a baby without diaper

if you only plan to go NA, look for the g35

that is correct, srt stage 2 is one of the more popular kits going around recently. stage 2 is good for about 320-350whp on the stock tranny.

the best 1/4 on a stock IS to date is 14.99

I dont think the is comes with red seats

also you have to rember there are side air bags in them that make it heavy. i am sure with some custom seat rails they would work.
