It looks nice, it's roomy, and has a lot of power. Sounds like a winner to me

Wow 280HP? It looks like Toyota is finally gunning for Nissan in the HP wars. The torque curve looks a little peakier than the VQ35DE though, but it's still plenty strong enough.

The new Avalon is hot!

^ Damn, never thought I would say that about an Avalon .

The interior looks like a mix of the current Avalon and the 2nd gen Solara. The engine is amazing for a car like this. Um, too much to comment on at the moment but this car looks like it will give the 6th gen Maxima a run for it's money .

^ Damn, it is beautiful A new Lexus ES better be around the corner because this new Avalon puts the current ES330 to shame in both style and performance. This thing looks as nice as an LS430 inside, for cryin' out loud!

yeah. Who would buy an ES330 once this thing is out? Unless they revamp the ES at the same time also. The current gen ES came out in 2002, so 2006 would be a tad early for a full redesign but who knows. I just checked Toyota's press site and they say pricing will be out in Feb 2005. So it looks like this will launch in the spring sometime probably as an early 2006 model.

Works out perfect for me. Give them a year to get the bugs out and then I'll probably either get a 2007 Maxima 25th Anniversary edition, or a 2007 Avalon. I'd consider a Honda Inspire too, but I guess Honda isn't gonna bring it here.

Why get an ES when this new Avalon looks to be the same size as the present LS430 and actually looks better both exterior and interior wise

Hmm..looks like I may have to bump the Acura RL off my list. I need that interior room! and the RL's rear seat is lacking!!!

I dont think I would compare the Avalon with the Maxima. The Avalons ride, comfort and noise levels are all on the Luxury side. The Maxima is more on the sport side!!!

The press release says that they'll have a 'Touring' sporty edition of the Avalon, so I think it'll be a direct competitor. The 280hp engine shoud be a give away that Toyota is pretty serious and where they have their sights set.

I look forward to it. Nice to see Toyota step into the 21st century with their car lineup.

It's an awsome car!

Avalon LTD fully loaded:
Voice-activated DVD navigation system,Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control with Brake Assist, Dynamic Laser Cruise Control, JBL 350w 6cd indash changer with 12 speekers and more...

My Mod's:
35% Tint windows, DVD sys. with 10.2" widescreen headrests, Maya wheels (STM Graphite Polished 20 x 8.5), TOYO tires (Proxes T1Rô Ultra-High Performance Radial 245/35ZR20).

Little by little I'll get there.

Monitors look OEM, just like the optional ones in the Jaguar S-Type . One thing though. Is it me, or does that optical sensor for the dynamic cruise control look unprotected from road debris?

Interior styling and engine specs are fantastic. But the exterior styling is not the rave - wouldn't look at it twice parked in a lot (may not even notice it if it was that dark brown color)

I thought the same thing. They should have put like a clear lens to protect it. But no, I guess thats how they make there money.

Hope it never happens to me!

Question of the day though. With the new Lexus IS350 (same Av engine I assume) making 306 hp, how do we Av owners tweak the Av to get the same power without sacrificing any reliability, etc. A few tweaks and this car will hunt down a few unsuspecting Beemers, etc.

Anyone know? Thanks.

Don't buy any of those, they are wastes of money. Your money is better spent on tuning
