My Supra powered IS300 Project

This is my dream and I need as much help from you guys as I can get (mainly information). It is quite difficult to find very detailed information about the 2jzgte and 2jzge engines, so if you know of a good site let me know. Currently I have a 2002 IS300, e-shift. What I want to do is to put a 2jzgte engine in it with a PLP vortech supercharger. One of my problems is that the amount of power means I need a new tranny (sooner or later my existing one will explode).

(1)Is the 2jzgte block EXACTLY the same as the 2jzge block? Is it just the internals that differ?Would a rod and piston swap be all I really need or should I opt for this: http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1158

(2)Would it be more economical to swap in a Supra tranny?(Factoring in a custom driveshaft and other misc. parts to do it right) or is there something else out there that is easier/better. I saw the post about w55's and how everyone agrees that they pretty much suck.

(3)I might consider sticking with the Supra Auto Tranny just cause I don't track race much and I like the luxury of an auto, also I want see if I can custom wire Ferrari style Paddle shifters on the wheel. Is the ecu for the Tranny of a supra incorporated in with the engine ecu or is it a seperate unit?

Thanks, The IS300 forum on Automotiveforums.com is dead and people here seem to know a lot more

I saw a show on TLC a while back like 6 months in which they took a GS430 engine with a Supra tranny and put it into an IS300. I don't know if the amount of work is justified. I think that you should pm BigVic. He is a supra owner and knows probably more than any of us about the supra. Good luck with this project, if it works it would be sik.

This I can tell you. The 2jzge is the same identical block as the 2jzgte. Internals are just stronger and compression is different. The heads are not identical however. You can swap the blocks and call it a day. My buddy just swapped his 2jzge block with a 2jzgte block in his GS300. www.epikmotorsports.com He owns this shop and you may wanna talk with him. That car will soon be twin turboed as soon as he comes across a spare head to fab some manifolds with. An amazing drift machine. Here are some pics of him at DG Trials in Atlanta this past weekend. The other guy 240sx is our other member.

I saw that, Kinda feels ****** cause the article came out one month after I started to put together stuff for this project. I wouldn't want to buy it though I rather do my own.

i hope you can go through with this. i've always wanted to kind of do the same, only do a twin turbo setup. i think that the IS with a TT Supra powertrain would a phenom of a car to drive. good luck!

Hey bro you said you have an E-shift. You know that tranny is good up to 450hp right? You also know that the E-shift can actually take more hp than the manual for the IS? I mean if you are looking at over 450hp in your IS then ya, might as well do the Supra tranny at the same time. Just remember though that is a lot of hp in the first place anyways.

Just do a search over on IS300.net (sorry for the plug to another website). It can handle 350 - 400 no problem and there are some on there with turbo'ed IS engines at 450hp still stock e-shifts with no problems at all. Plus whats nice is the e-shifts come with LSD standard where as the manual, its an option.

EDIT: And for the '05, it looks like they dropped the LSD completely from the 5spd.

Owner of C&C Auto in SoCal has a IS300 and he just put in a supra turbo engine in there. Saw it with my own eyes. I just found a thread here about this.
