I sat in 3 out of the 4 cars in that comparison (didn't bother with the LaCrosse) at a local international car show and just from the interior amenities, the Avalon wins hands down .

Nice

The new Avalon is a nice car, a huge improvement over the previous version. It's so upscale-looking that they could've slapped a Lexus badge on it and gotten away with it. "Why bother with an ES 330?" is right. Who would want an ES 330 when you can get the roomier, more-powerful Avalon for less money? Not I. The 2007 ES better be something really special to convince buyers that it's worth it's price premium over the Avalon.

That's why I think they may have jumped the gun with this car's powertrain. I mean, how is the next ES supposed to out-do the Avalon performance-wise if they have the same engine? They probably should've saved the new 3.5L V6 exclusively for the 2007 ES and just gone with the 3MZ-FE for the Avalon. According to CarTest, an Avalon with the 3MZ-FE would've still accelerated quickly enough to tie the Buick Lacrosse CXS in the quarter-mile in that test. In fact, the 3MZ would pull just as hard as the 3.5 until just past 3000 rpm, when the 3.5's power curve ramps upward sharply. Considering that the majority of the car's target buyers will probably never push their cars very hard on a regular basis, the extra 50HP the 3.5 has over the 3.3 isn't really necessary. But those extra 50 horses would've been a great selling point for the upcoming ES

Thatís what I though but then I realized that Toyota might have used the 3.5L V6 to try and outdo the Maxima.

High priced packages added to the cost of the vehicle. You still get that great V6 on all of the lower trim levels and packages.

The 37k is for the king of the hill Limited edition. You can get a decently optioned Avalon for around 29k+. Check out the pricing at http://www.alexandriatoyota.com or just goto the Toyota website.

Yeah and the $37k even included adaptive cruise control, and that's the MSRP price. In 6 months you'll be able to get one for I bet $500 over invoice. And if you dump out the NAVI option you're looking at about $30k.

I have an 05 Touring. Gave $31K. It is worth every penny. It spanks the 300M in quality. I have owned Chrysler products before and simply would not put it even the same category as this new Av. The Av is velvety quick... and the Touring suspension will give you enough corner carving to keep most people happy. It will run at a buck plus and not break a sweat. not that I do that!!! but it will...

You can't go wrong with this car....
