Man that guy has some high hopes....if you look at the drawing he sent to Toyota, he wants a mid engine rear wheel drive, gull wing doors, the word Supra down the side in fibre optics.

But from what ive heard and seen, the picture of the red car on the first page is closest to what its gonna look like.

well since it was priced in the 40-50k range before they need to make improvements if they want to keep it in that range. It needs to run a low 13 1/4 mile and pull over .9Gs. I think toyota should market it above the STi and EVO 8.

The Supra would have to stay in a smaller class if it is going to be N/A. Somewhere around the S2000 (soon to be S2200) and 350Z.

Whoever said they saw a Toyota coupe a while back that looked like a Supra was actually looking at a 2004 Solara. Just letting you all know so that little thing can be factored out.

i think it would be a shame if they made the new Supra in a N/A only format....the twin turbos made the character of the whole car.

the sti and evo 8 are both 4 cylinder cars pushing almost 20psi....if toyota used the same motor from the last supra at 20psi....imagine that...... the new supra shouldn't be anywhere near the sti or evo class. they are both awd and sedans. supra is nothing like them

Hmmm...3JZ-GTE
That's doubtful. The 2JZ-GE & 2JZ-GTE engines are having a hard time passing upcoming emission standards. Since the I-6 is currently only used in GS's and IS's over here in the USDM I know Lexus is considering putting the 3.3L V6 from the RX 330 into the GS, and IS. I know for a fact that the ES is getting the 3.3L.

Rumor has it though that the IS may get the 4.0L from the 4-Runner (AKA IS 400) and if the rumors of a higher powered premium AWD GS 4XX are true the GS may get the 4.0L V6 as well.

Giving Lexus engine and model cycles I would expect something interesting from Lexus in the 04 model year.

Think about it ...

The V6 was 2.5L for two years
The 1st 3.0L was of an Iron Block design from 92-93
The aluminum block V6 came into duty in 94. Got a slight revision in 95, but served from 95-96, 97-98, (VVT-i)99-01, 02-03, (3.3L VVT-i) 04-

The V8's were revised just as quickly. 90-92, 93-94, 95-97, (VVT-i)98-00, (4.3L)01-

As for the I-6 they weren't revised as often. They cam into the Lexus line up in 92 and carried on until 97 basically unchanged.
In 98 the I-6 received a VVT-i Head.

the ppl on is300.net have linked several pics and heard that the new supra is going to be based on the upcoming is platform. the is will have a v6 motor and the supra will have the option of the v6 from the is or a v8.

as they are based on the same platform, we are being hinted of an is coupe coming out.

Of all the upcoming models I know of, there are 2 Lexus that will be introduced soon. A new drop top convert. and a sedan (new models). There is nothing new from Toyota except the death of the MR-2 and Celica... no Supra revival news has been handed to the dealers (yet) but TRE (Toyota Racing Europe) has been developing a V10 engine. No word on a release date or which car it'll go into yet... but it is probably the Lexus Supercar that a lot of magazines have talked about in months in the past (end of 03/beginning of 04)

it can be in any magazine but if TMS employees don't know about it, I'm sure DUB magazine is also speculation =P Just like Road/Track, Car/Driver, etc

Doesn't surprise me. The Scion tC is taking the Celica's place when it's released in June.
