I drive a 2003 Camry LE VVT-i V-6.

I use Mobil-1 5W-30 during the colder months, and Mobil-1 10W-30 during the hot part of the year (my home is Pensacola FL, although I'm recalled to active duty in the Marines, and stationed in New Orleans), Gulf Coast climate.

While there is certainly not much difference between the two grades, I'm just trying to take advantage of the theoretically lower shear-induced viscosity reduction of the 10W-30 during hot summer months. I drive the engine pretty hard (fairly regular runs up to redline), so shearing down to a lower viscosity may be an issue for me. Don't really have any proof though.

I change oil and filter at 5,000 miles, which always comes up before the time limit (I presently drive almost 40k/year).

I have used Mobil-1 since 1986. My longest kept car since was a 1988 Honda Civic which I drove for ~150k, with 5k change intervals. Engine was spotless (only clean, bare metal inside) and in perfect running condition when traded.

I have a 98 LX AV6. I have been using Redline 5w-30 but I might switch to Mobil1 because it's cheaper. I change at 3k but sometimes sooner. Redline's performance is smooth and it doesn't wear as quick as other oils. It has a guarantee for up to 10k miles, but your filter will kick out by that time!
