2007 Camry Solara

http://www.toyota.com/camrysolara/in...OME_SOLARA_TXT

I like the improvements to the exterior but WTH happened to the V6 engine!? Why is this car still using in the old 3MZ 3.3L VVT V6? Does the 2GR 3.5L Duel VVT V6 not fit under the hood?

With that 3.3L V6, it is compared to the 2007 Camry.

2007 Camry V6 - 268 HP/248 lbs TQ 3.5L V6
2007 Solara V6 - 210 HP/220 lbs TQ 3.3L V6

Yeah, that makes sense . What was Toyota thinking?

they made it even worth than it already is by adding the backup lights on the bumper and the fog lights housing looks cheap. Good choice by adding hids. Do i see led tail lights?

I plan on swapping the taillights on mine as soon as I can find some for cheap (with some of my own LED's for the backup lights though )

BTW they aren't wasting their time on the engine because they are killing off the Solara after this generation

What are they replacing it with? Anything else going into the coupe segment? Or are they just going on the traditional multi-year anticipation-building hiatus?

Well Toyota is doing a real good job of making that happen . If I was going to choose between the 2007 Solara V6 and 2007 Camry V6, I would easily choose the 2007 Camry V6. Anyways, isn’t the 2007 Solara the only Toyota that still carries the MZ series V6?

Anyways, it became known about last summer from a Toyota source on the Solara forums =/

Ah, right right. That's another Toyota model that needs a major update (just like the Honda Pilot).

With as much money as Toyota makes, you'd think they'd be able to take a small hit in the wallet and keep a low volume seller like the Solara in production. Toyota already ended the MR-S's and Celica's production.

rx400h and highlander still have the 3mz. The RX gas-only now has the 2GR 3.5L. The Highlander should be getting a model change soon... I think it came out in 01.

After the Solara is gone, another vehicle is already being prepped for release the following model year. Rumors yield an AWD drive train cross-over wagon based on the Camry platform (to maintain camry sales numbers). I know it's in the works, but no word on if that will actually be the replacement. Think Dodge Magnum style, but w/ Toyota reliability =P

Cool

It's not like the rumor hasn't beena round forever.
The Camry has never failed to have an AWD version avalible since 1988. The problem is noone in N.A. would buy a gen 2 AWD camry, so they quit importing them. Toyota doesn't re-do past mistakes very often.

It's called a part bin guys. LoL! You have to use up what you have.

That and most likely they are waiting on emessions certifications on the other two platforms. on the 2GR-FE. (and there may be some clearance issues in the solara).

A "major production seller"
bawahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
You might want to rethink that statement.
Toyota sold 177,070 Camry's in 2005. Just over 6,000 of those were Solara's.
They sell more priuses in a MONTH (and can't keep up with demand at touching 8,000) then they do solara's in a year.

Solara's are not a bread & butter vehicle. They get whatever is in the parts bin.

Honda makes the Civic with AWD in Japan but never brought that feature here. It seems that Americans don't have an interest in mainstream sedans like the Camry and Civic with AWD.

The Solara isn't exactly a collection of leftover parts from Toyota's parts bin. Besides the Solara exclusive coupe body and frame (still based off the Camry though), the unique interior and convertible soft top are also Solara exclusive parts.

A Camry wagon? Toyota already tried that in the early 90's and it failed.

I went and saw them in person today while getting my oil changed. On the lighter colors (red, white, silver, etc) the new front doesnt look good. But on darker colors like the blue and black it looks mean

The new steering wheel (3-spoke from the 07 Camry SE) doesn't match the interior, the old 3 spoke in the 2.0 gen solars flowed alot better.

Although the new head unit is neat with it's MP3 capability, they had to add alot more captions to the buttons on it, and now it just looks too busy. The writing is huge and in uppercase and looks like a bunch of warning labels all over your dash

New headlights suck in person

New taillights rock in person I went to the parts dept and got a price quote on them, they will run $140 a pop when they hit the shelf in about a month....not terrible for LED tails that are that freakin huge. I might have to pick up a set and retro some reverse LED's into them

Oh and the new lip spoiler looks alot better than the old one

Overall I have mixed feelings, and it wouldn't neccessarily make a buying decision having the changes over the older model. But that's my opinion

Hold on, Honda sells 350,000+ Accords every year and the Camry outsells it just about every year. And I’ve seen far too many Solara’s on the road for there to only be 6,000 sold each year. Even Honda’s $30,000 Accord V6 Hybrid sold 16,000+ units last year. Where are you getting your numbers from?

it looks girly. VTEC-V6! has the best year for the Solara hands down. The 1st gen and now this newer Gen is a huge disappointment.
