How much HP does the 4 banger solara and the 6 cylynder have....and does the 6 cylinder have duel exhaust??? because today i played cat and mouse with one and i was following him, and i was reeling him in with no problem i even had to let off, and my A/C was on so i was just curious what are those thing putting out.....FYI this one had exhaust (single not duel) and thats the only mod that i could tell lol, he had some pretty nice black rims as well but we all know rims dont make u faster.....

All solaras have single exhaust. What generation was the Solara? If it was the new one, you raced a 4 cyl, the 6 cyl would have taken you. Be glad you didn't race him from a dig though

As for Mr. Know-It-All here, the 1st Gen Solaras had three different engine choices.

The 5S-FE 4 cylinder, which would run anywhere from 17's-18's
The 2AZ-FE 4 cylinder, which would run anywhere from 16's-17's
The 1MZ-FE V6, which would run anywhere from 15's-16's (MT/AT, Driver vs. Driver)

The 2nd Gen Solaras have two engine choices.

The 2AZ-FE 4 cylinder, which would run anywhere from 16'-17's
The 3MZ-FE V6 which runs low 15's

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Let us know which kind you raced

It must have been a four banger, because when I raced a 1st Generation Solara (which had a passenger in it as well) while stock on the freeway, it was even until I hit 4th gear... then I got raped... hard. They have the same size engine I believe... but extra camshafts, so odds are they put out more power or torque than us. Almost any other V6 puts out more torque than us.

gen2 (uglier one) has 220hp 240ft lb.. v6 low 16s

I had to edit my post. I forgot that the generation before the 1st Generation Solara was just called the Camry, but with two doors. What I raced had the bodystyle of the generation active during 2000.

Better, but still way off.

Correct. And to back up his previous post where he listed engines and ETs, here's something from Car and Driver. Keep in mind that it's the AUTOMATIC CONVERTIBLE, so the coupe should have better times since it's lighter, and the manual... if they have that option (I believe they do), would be even quicker.

So... unless the Solara had really heavy rims, was loaded with passengers/cargo, its A/C was also on, and/or the guy was just driving fast but not racing... you would have lost to a V6 Solara hardtop.

The 2nd gen Solara start out at 3165lbs

But unfortunately, the top of the line fat-a$$ solara SLE V6 Ragtop tops out at 3615lbs

Either way, if it was a second gen that he beat like that, it was a 4 banger

Well not just because of that, DOHC gives you more flexibility and high end breathing capability.

The engine is also a 3.3L

Compare it to the J32A2 3.2L

Not all solaras are slow, You just didnt race the right now. Go find a Gen 1 5 speed version which are hard to find. 15.6 with a mere ok driver and with some mods 15 flat. Or you can come find me and my solara. Its a 5 speed. But Im sure not running 15 flat.

I agree solaras have issues. But its a luxury car, not in any way a sports car.

More Solara drivers

And yes our cars can't handle for sh*t, but they are good for sitting in gridlocked traffic

I beg to differ!! I had my share of racing 1st and 2nd gen solora V6 ofcourse, My friend as matter of fact had a first gen V6 with header, intake, catback, grounding, and plugs. I raced him whoile i was stuck and we were even I got my intake and chip and i handed his a$$ over to him on a platter. My cousin got a 2ND gen V6 with tip tronic tranny and i smoked him of the pick up. Keep in mind i had only intake and chip. By the end i had a 3to 4 car lead on him.

Ok lets break it down.

Your friends mods:

I/H/E.

Grounding kit and plugs dont coun't.

---------------------------------------------

Your mods:
Intake
Mystery Chip...What kind of chip do you have? eBay IAT sensor resistor black box?

And theres no doubt that the new AV6's are faster than all the solaras...the thread starter had a 6th gen which is by no means a speed machine AND the numbers I put up coincide directly with you beating him, so what's your point?

I have a tri- Stage chip , and v2. You don't have to get angry or frustrated. Even the second gen Soloras aren't fast enough. With all the mods that i have I'm waiting to race a 2nd gen solra again. can'r wait to race my cousin cause i', sure i won't smoke him but Annihilateundefinedhim. A 2nd gen with mods would be a good race though.

Don't worry fellas, "fastV6" just doesn't have a fast enough mind to keep up with his bragging... as we can see from his completely missing the original post, and another post reminding him of the original.

Oh my God....

A stock AV6 6-Speed runs in the 14s. SO WE ALREADY KNOW BY DEFAULT that it's faster.
