Cool Tony Leung's '94 v6 camry Turbo, first 1/4 mile trip.

Fastest Camry in history.
First time at the track. Full street trim with the new lower compression 9.0:1 pistons GT40/88 @ 22psi.
Untuned on 9.0:1 pistons (Using previous 10.5:1 piston tune, same psi)
468 WHP and 431 ft-lbs - 599bhp / 551ft-lb.
Street tires, all subs/audio still in the trunk.
No brake boosting at launch, just idle, gas, and go (keep in mind, it's a 4500rpm stall convertor, along with a 7psi first gear boost limit giving him the 2.5s 60' time).

Small clip of one of the passes:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...94797369140068

This is an easy 11 second car with slicks, a tune. NOT including the engine can handle alot more boost on the new pistons. The man himself:

Very mean. Your car is brutal. Is that the MR2 motor or the one from the Celica All Trac? Nice job, it must be a lot of fun.

Cool

That's not my ES, that's Tony Leung's v6 Camry
It's the 1994 1mz-fe 3.0L v6. MR2's don't come with v6's unless you stuff one in from a Camry, or Toyota truck...

Some guy in TX had 2 Toyota MR2s with Celica V6 engines...one was turboed...the other SCed.

Man...imagine getting spanked by that Camry @ the track...haha. Very nice work!

Cool

For the last time, neither mr2's, nor celica's ever came with more than an i4.
The most they ever got was the 3s-gte in the genII mr2, and the 3s-gte in the ill fated AWD celica.
You have to swap a v6 to have one. (Yes mr2 v6 swaps are increasingly popular, as at signifigantly less bhp, they rape the 3s-gte's at the track. Torque baby!)

Video fixed.

I didn't think they came with any 6's but I wasn't 100%. Solara V6 TRD supercharger baby...that is what I wanted to put in mine

Cool

I won't get into it, but the TRD supercharger for the 1mz is total crap for a long string of reasons. It takes alot of work to run a stock one safely, not to mention make any kind of power with it. People run them, but I don't recommend it. Go custom turbo, or custom s/c.

I don't have an MR2 anymore...and possibly won't ever due to the expense. It was just a dream a time ago much like this accord is now

Hey Toysrme, it's probably better to use my screen name "Tony the Tiger", because I have a feeling that some of the guys here don't recognize my full name...lol

I am not a crazy fan of fast 1/4mile times because obviously, slicks or drag radials are not what you run on the streets. Something like a stock Corvette C6 Z06, for example, could do a low 12 sec pass on full street trim... Even if I ran 11's on slicks, that doesn't mean I am anywhere near as fast as the Z06 in the 1/4mile in real life conditions.

My plan is to make as much power as possible yet still retaining 2.3-2.4 60-ft times that is common for most FWD cars on street tires. My goal is to run a low 12 sec pass @ 125+ mph, and in fact, it will take about 70-80 more WHP to do that which is not that far-fetched with my new lower compression pistons

Thanks for the props everyone

For you guys that haven't seen Tony's camry lately....

Here are some current pics.

I figured I'd start a new thread... This will be the thread for the first official twin turbo Camry. It's safe to say that it will be running probably by tomorrow or Monday All is left are fluids, a few clamps on the charge piping, connect the turbo oil lines (I left them out for priming reasons) and charge up the battery!

To find pics of during the build, visit my other thread on this link:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=279427

There are still many small touch-ups I will be doing though... I will be adding some heatshields for the turbo, paint touch up for the firewall and shock towers, and perhaps polish the upper charge pipe as well.

Feel free to ask questions.. If you see something that you want to know what it is, etc... just ask

Shot of two turbos:

Underbody -- downpipes and dual 2.5" Exhaust. The muffler you see is not just a regular muffler, but it is the Dynomax perforated "X-pipe" which equalizes the pressure from my unequal lengthed downpipes:

Another underbody shot:

Exhaust -- Dual 2.5" is roughly the total flow capacity of a single 3.75" exhaust. I did the dual pipes for maximum ground clearance, noise cancellation and also to match the dual inlets of the Supra TT muffler I am using. The car is going to be stock-like quiet, but free flowing well up to 500 WHP.

Here's a pic of my custom airbox... It's there to give it a slightly stealthier look, to keep the car more legal with the local police (open air filter is a $280 ticket here), and also gives a nice clean apperance. .. This is a pic of the lid CLOSED:

I think either tomorrow or Monday, I should have a video of it starting up Shortly after that, the Camry is going straight to the dyno. You can't beat the convenience when the dyno is literally 5 secs away
