depends, are you going to want to enjoy driving it, or just sitting in it?

how old are you?

my dad has an ls430, and i seriously almost get sick riding it in, its so floaty. not what i'm looking for in a car, but maybe you are... who knows

IMO GS is better when you are 35-50 years old and want a litle fun added to the smooth ride.
And LS when you are 50+ and you just want a smooth ride and no fun

imo, the LS430 is too mature, and only cool if u wanna go VIP style. i mean the car is the best rated Luxury sedan, killin the S-Class, the 7-Series etc etc...
The GS430 is a great sporty car. but it never changed since like 97 i think when the body style changed. you can fake the funk with an older GS300 or 400. with the money you save, maybe swap the motor to the potent 2JZGTE...which is what i plan to do to an SC300 soon

and in choosing, its all about what you want, if you want the luxury, LS430, if you want the power and sporty drive, the GS all the way if u want a car that can do the 2JZ swap and blow away yur competition SC300 or IS300

I like how the 2004 GS looks over the 2004 LS. I agree that the LS is for the much older person.

Look how nice this GS looks pimped out.

that's the wrong body style. The body style that you posted is the 2006 body. Anyways to address a few issues. You can't go wrong when you get into a Lex. Now this is coming from a previous Accord v6 owner. I am happy with my choice when I went with the Gs400. But to answer your question, it matters what you are looking for. I love both Gs and Ls but for me the Ls is just not me right now. I drive one occasionally when my boy takes his fathers when his is in the shop but I love the feeling getting into my gs.

The modding to both cars can go as insane as you want or as much as you wallet can handle. Check out clublexus.com and you will see what I mean. But here is a few pics of a gs430 and ls430 done up.

^ But like Kiet told me it's a 04 thing, I would say to go for the 04' LS.

LS is actually more pimp stock. And it has a lot of nice features should you not trick it out.

Honestly for a LS, all you really need are wheels and FIN, you should be good.

But yeah I said the new LS is dope intentionally, I mean the self-parking feature almost sold me - HAHAHA

I don't think having a "too mature" car is bad at all. I think having a ricer car, eight times slower to try to be a LS is worse. If you keep it clean, you have that car for a very long time...

But that's imo, coming from a former Honda turned BMW guy - Muuuuuuuhahaha.

haha, did you read my post before i edited. i didnt want to be mean..

but like i said. if its between the same years, i'd picked the ls.. eventhough they both have an old school feeling, the 04 gs has a more older old school feeling than the ls.

but if we are talking about the ls and the new gs, thats a different story, but i may lean more towards to gs due its looks. its not old school feeling.

A little too red for me...

Yeah, you can't go wrong with Lexus.
My dad is huge fan of that line, and when I visit my parentals, that's probably one the first things I do when I borrow his cars,

Automatic burnouts - LOL j/k

I don't know, I actually like all four of them to tell you the truth.

Depends on how it's going to be modded or which color in the end - LOL

Well at least we're not talking about Camerys and Avalons, cause I can't help there =\

The 07 LS is nice, but Lexus will void your warranty if you change the wheels to aftermarket in shop besides the authorized Lexus dealer...

Go with a 04 LS430 you won't lose if you into modding make it VIP, and it will turn heads. GS400 is not a performance vehicle, and their VTT-I motor is not great if you wanna mod with a 2JZGTE get a 91-97 Lexus Gs300, IS300, or SC300. If you want peroframnce you can get a new 06 IS350 those will have a HKS turbo kit coming real soon.

Got a couple of problems with your post. How did you come to the conclusion that the Gs400 motor is not great? What is the problem with the vvt-i system? Another thing is you can drop a 2jz-gte into a 98-05 gs300 as well. btw stating that the gs400 is not a performance vehicle is correct its classified as a luxury sports sedan, but tell that to some of the lexus owners who are either running superchargers, twin turbos and single turbos. Most cars are not "performance vehicles" this is why most people upgrade them or get into a performance vehicle first.

GS430 > LS430 if you are a young fella..

LS430 >GS430 if you are a lil older...

The GS is a smooth car especially the 430 it rides really quiet, and has balls.
