is 300 re-design

Does anyone know when the IS 300 is going to get a re-design? The 1st gen body style has been out for awhile now. Are we looking at '05, '06,...?

I've heard they're dropping the 2JZ-GE 3.0L Inline-6 and will instead put the 3MZ-FE 3.3L V-6 in it. That's just rumor, though. Who knows...

That sucks though because the I6 has more potential. Oh well just like Nissan dumped the RB26 and used the VQ35 in the Skyline. I'm waiting for the IS430 though.

They somehow managed to shoe-horn the 4.3L V8 underneath the hood of the IS300. Woulda been a GREAT S4 4.2L V8 competitor but I guess Lexus brass didn't give it a green light.

Supporting specialty engines like Toyota's 2JZ-GE and Nissan's RB26 just doesn't make sense in today's economy. Switching to "global platform" engines that are already used in other cars decreases overhead, makes the cars cheaper to produce, the company more profitable, and makes shareholders happy.

Oh yeah, and they'll keep raising the prices too!

Honda has yet to globalize a V6 engine. They have done so mostly with the inline 4 k series.

This might mean that Honda might globalize the 3.5L V6. Since the 2004 TL might just have a 3.5L V6 in it was well.

Toyota is doing it with there 3.3L V6, and Nissan already did it with the 3.5L V6. So what’s stopping Honda from doing it, not much just time .

You never know .
