SOLD: Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 USA Nikon version

[post copied from NikonCafe.com]

Up for sale is my USA version Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO lens. Click on the embedded link to go to my SmugMug album where you can see and download full resolution images and a few more photos.

Background: I purchased this lens NEW from Adorama back in April 2008. I was one of the very first to get this lens. It is a GOOD COPY that does not have back-focusing issues or a "missing spacer" or anything like a lot of the recent ones apparently have had. The AF has always been perfect on whatever body I've tried it on (D80, D50, F100). Manual focus is also a joy and very easy on a d40/40x/60 body. 7 of the 10 photos below were taken on my d40 and manually focused, so if you have one of these bodies don't be discouraged. Optical performance is great, and if you shoot FX & DX this lens will cover FX at 15-16mm as well.

Here's some sample photos. This lens performs well any way you use it. In broad daylight stopped down, wide-open handheld at night, on a pod, it just works and delivers. In fact looking at these photos again makes me not want to sell it, but I force myself to let go.

Optics are mechanics are both like new. Comes with box, hood, and paperwork as pictured.

Reason for selling: I picked up the late Paul Frye's AF 14mm f/2.8D. 14mm is generally wide enough for me on DX, and even wider on my film bodies than the Tokina will go, and it focuses a lot closer, I couldn't pass up such a good deal, and I can't afford to keep both.

ASKING $560 Shipped, Paypalled & Insured.

$10 off if paying by check, but you'll have to wait for the check to clear before shipping.

ok

Yeah anything HOT from Nikon or for Nikon can get back-ordered for ages. I've learned to stay ahead of the curve and that if there's something I even think I want, just PRE-ORDER it lol. I think this Tokina lens is the "18-200VR" of 2008/2009 as far as back-orders and eBay price gouging.

Nope!

I'm actually really digging that lens and am probably going to keep it. Check this thread. About half the photos were taken with that lens on my F100 shooting Velvia 50 film. I like using it a lot on DX digital bodies too so it's definitely a keeper for now. It's wide enough for me on DX and ultra-ultra wide on full-frame, and the super close focusing lets you do things with it that you can't do nearly as well with other ultra-wide lenses. Plus it looks cool.
