SOLD: Nikon D40 + 18-55VR kit lens + extra battery (56k beware)

No pics yet, but all of this stuff is in great condition. I take great care of my gear and when not in use it's in a covered container or camera bag protected from the elements (all of the dust in my house, basically).

The D40 was purchased new from J&R in mid/late-2007 and has just under 15,900 actuations. Includes gold box and all accessories, software, and documentation.

Bonus 1: Normally the D40 comes with the 18-55 non-VR kit lens. I've got the 18-55 VR version which I'm including as part of the kit, which is a nicer lens.

Bonus 2: Extra Genuine Nikon EN-EL9 battery (or whatever the model number is). I don't screw around with aftermarket batteries ever.

Bonus 3: 1GB Sandisk SD card that I found laying around. Enough to hold 500+ JPEG Large Normal 6MP images, no idea on RAW.

Asking $350 including shipping and paypal.

Will post a ton of pics later.

Reason for selling: I don't need FIVE SLR camera bodies. Also for casual use and around the house or work shots I now have a Canon S90 point and shoot which is excellent and does what I want it to do quicker and easier than any SLR. I haven't shot with the D40 since like October 2009.

If you can't get a whole ton of great photos with this camera and it's 'lack of features', then it's not the camera, it's YOU.

The best reason of all to buy this camera besides the fact that it's a great camera is that it's so cheap that it'll help you afford some of the NICE lenses out there like some of the ones I used above. Indeed I sold my old Nikon D80 along with some other stuff so that I could afford to buy the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens, and just stuck with this D40 for about 6 months until I could afford a second DSLR body again. Best thing I ever did. I got a whole ton of great shots with that 70-200/2.8 lens that I never could have gotten otherwise, and I never missed all of the added junk in the D80 for even a minute. Lens > body all day long, all speeds, all gears, and in reverse too.

Why am I selling the D40? Because I want some more lenses! And I have more camera bodies than I can use at the moment.

No

That's a big selling point and distinguishing feature of my kit. You get the nicer D40 body (vs the D60) and I've already gone through the pains of swapping the non-VR kit lens for the VR one. Bought it straight off of somebody's D60 or D5000 kit last year, I forget which.

Man I felt bad boxing this thing up and packaging it to go over the weekend. So many great shots.

I'll miss it.
