my brothers SI










kinda want a better camera the one right now is Kodak EasyShare DX6490 5-years old?... i took like 30 some pix. and the noise level was just horrible and it was windy/cold so the $20 tripod was wobbling around lol.... i'm lookin at Nikon D40 or the D80, or is there any others out there i should beaware of? thx.

You should get the D80 over the D40 because of the AF motor. It'll save you some headaches! Both cameras are great though. My room mate has a D40 and it's really easy to use, compact, and the image quality is good.

since if your a beginner you could go with the d50.. a little less then the d80

thx for the advice, that is a good point the D80 is a bit pricy and i proly wont even make full use of all its functions, i am proly gonna look/read around for a while before i make my decision.

D50 is a good place to start. It's not too big of a dive...in case you realize you don't wanna pick up photography as a full time hobby. No use in getting a D80 and then realizing it's way more camera than you would ever need. D50 has the internal AF motor...so you can use the old skool lenses that the D40/x can't.
