Need help choosing a new camera.

Well, my camera is on it's way out, I am not a photographer like most of you by any stretch and just need a simple, but decent point and shoot digital. I am trying to stay at $250 or less. Any suggestions from the camera gods????

i wouldn't get a DSLR unless it was in addition to my P&S...and really that Canon Sd750...the ones from Canon in that range are all good for the money...

sony seems to have awesome stuff...its more expensive usually...i just don't trust their durability...but yea DSLR..altho you gain features and quality...you lose some photos because you won't want to take such a large camera everywhere...

Well, the SD750 seems to be a clear winner, once some more money falls off the money tree I will have to pick one up before mine goes completly, I am now getting a little whisp of smoke from the flash when I use it.

I could probably get 50 cents off... My in store Circuit City discount sucks. Not even worth working there. The way the discounts work depends on how the item sells. So in the case of a camera, it's a high flow item, so it won't get discounted much... If it never sold, I could probably get like 30% off haha.

remember that purchasing the D40 as an inexpensive route to dSLRs is not generally a good idea because you have to buy newer (relatively more expensive) lenses. if you just plan on keeping whatever lenses came with it and not expanding...then a D40 kit would be the right choice.

If you're willing to spend a little more, $279-$299 (depending on sales). Pick up the Canon SD870IS, one of the best P&S cameras under $300.
