Late Winter Photography Contest

Autumn Photography Contest
Hey everyone, welcome to V6P's Autumn photography contest
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________

The Theme
This contest's theme is "Kick." Your mission is to take photograph of anything related to the concept of "kick."

If you are unsure of whether or not your photo fits the category, just email it to me and I'll let you know if it's OK. I'm a somewhat liberal judge when it comes to artistic interpretation.

Announcements

We will be allowing some very basic post-processing work in our entries. I understand that some editing can be performed on traditional film photography and as such we will allow some minor corrections. The details are listed below. In the spirit of the contest, I trust you all will not go overboard and keep everything fair for everybody.

Submission & Voting Procedures
  • Your entries should be emailed to me at: [email protected]
  • They must be in JPEG format and conform to the proper size as mentioned below.
  • They must be taken after December 31, 2008. (GO OUT AND SHOOT!)
  • They need to be submitted to me no later than 11:59PM PST on February 28, 2009.
  • Voting will begin as soon as I'm able to process everyone's entries after the deadline. This could very well be the same evening, or take up to a week following the deadline.
  • Voting will end on March 15, 2009, at which time shortly thereafter, a winner will be declared
The Rules
  • Everyone may submit one entry for the contest
  • Each entry must follow the given theme for the month
  • Your picture must be at least 400 pixels and no more than 800 pixels on each side
  • Your picture must be taken and post-processed by you
YOU MUST:
  • Create your entry from a single exposure
  • Ensure that the date and time are correctly set to your home time zone before shooting your entry. If the date/time tied to your image does not fall within the specified challenge dates, your entry will be automatically disqualified - No Exceptions.
  • Retain your original, unedited file (exactly as recorded by your camera), and provide it to the contest moderator if requested. Files that have been saved or altered with any editing or transfer software are NOT originals.
YOU MAY:
  • Use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry
  • Crop, Rotate, and/or Resize your entry
  • Use Filters or stand-alone utilities designed to preserve image integrity (such as Neat Image, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, and color/lighting correction tools). These filters must be applied uniformly to the entire image and must not be used in such a way that their use becomes a feature. No "effects" filters may be applied to your image with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur.
  • Saturate, desaturate or change the colors uniformly of your entire image, no selections are allowed.
  • Add a border to the outside edge of your entry. your border must be distinct and clearly recognizable as a border.
  • Use RAW conversion software as long as the changes are made globally to a single file on one layer and do not create new features or effects in the process.
YOU MAY NOT:
  • Spot-edit your entry, except to remove sensor dust or hot pixels
  • Use the marquee, lasso, or similar tool to select a portion of your image for any reason other than cropping or creating a border
  • Use ANY editing tool to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn't already exist in your original capture
  • Add graphics, clip art, computer-rendered images or parts of other photographs to your entry or its border during editing
  • Add text to your entry or its border during editing. This includes copyright statements
  • Distort or stretch your image in any way
  • Submit any images that would be considered NWS (NOT WORK SAFE) by V6P Staff

If everyone can stick to the rules we can do this again and many times in the future

Thanks for your cooperation ahead of time and good luck to everyone!

One week left, and I only have one entry! Do I need to offer a cash prize or something?

I think it get the photography contest thing started up and popular again, maybe we should start with a more friendly theme? Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't come up with anything for "kick". I guess if I could focus more time towards it and get a model or someone to take a photo of, but I was thinking more along the lines of capturing something I just see.

bah...we don't get snow...haha. great picture though!

you should do one of your multi-me pictures with this snow angel idea. just take a picture of yourself in different positions of the snow angel making process and overlay them all.

LOL. That pic was taken when there was over 18 inches of snow! I would do one of those multi me's but I broke my tripod and turned it into a roof rack mount! Search my created threads to see that.

Oh, I remember seeing that. I didn't remember that your tripod broke though. Just park your car and use the roof rack!
