Sony DSLR

I know the majority vote here goes towards Nikon and Canon SLR's but Id like your opinion. I have an opportunity to get a Sony Alpha 300X for a very very cheap price brand new. I'm only a beginner so I can't say Ill turn intermediate and upgrade in the future. But for now I do want a DSLR camera to learn and take really good pictures. Any thoughts?

i have a friend who shoots with Sony SLR.. and they are good.. u have to find out how u like it or not. the feel of the camera in your hand is very important i think.

since sony is much less popular.. it may be very tough to resell in the future... i think most people that get sony cameras now are those who have old minolta lenses which are compatible. just keep that in mind.

if you're a beginner and want a beginner camera that you know you'll be able to resell later.. you can probably find a brand new d40 kit for 350-400

if your deal is much cheaper than that... then go for it

I have the a350 as my first DSLR. So far I've had no problems with it, very easy to use, and I'd recommend it to any other beginners.

my friend used to shoot a Sony, but even with their new DSLRs, the biggest downfall is the poor high iso performance. and that's across the board with their DLSRs. if that's not a problem for you, they're pretty on par in other aspects of the camera's performance.

All, Thank you for the input! Definitely things I need to consider.
Chiefy, Thanks for the link!! That definitely puts a comparison into perspective.
What are you including in the D50 and for how much?

For perspective, its the A300X with 2 lenses. DT-18-70 standard zoom and 55-200mm telephoto lens. Ill be able to get it for about $500. SonyStyle sells it for $800.
