Talking the crazy good camera deals thread

See a LEGIT insanely good deal on some camera gear? Post a link to it here. No eBay, unless it's from a legit vendor with a retail storefront, like Cameta. See www.resellerratings.com to check if a store is legit. I'm always on the lookout for great deals. That's how I got my brand spanking new Nikon D200 last year, for just $599 from Best Buy. That was a $1700 camera just a few years ago.

Anyhow, I'll start.

By way of Ken Rockwell, Adorama has some great Nikon refurbished gear on sale. A D5000 with 18-55VR kit lens for $525, body only for $499 (why bother), and a refurb D40 with 18-55 non-VR kit lens for $375. All of these have 90-day Nikon warranties and Adorama's standard return policy.

Costco also has some great memory card deals going on right now. I just picked up a Sandisk Extreme II 8GB CF card (30 MB/sec rated) for $29.99, and then a 2-pack of Sandisk SDHC Ultra 8GB cards for I think $34.99. Got one of each.

Occasionally Adorama and/or Cameta has had them refurb for $699. Yeah, get the D5000 with 18-55VR deal and if you don't like or want the lens sell it for a nice big profit.

Selling my D90... hahah JK! The D90 is a camera I will never get rid of... even whenever I upgrade to the D700, I'll still keep the D90.

depends on budget... you can pick up a d40 kit used for 300-400 which is great. if you want to get a brand new kit... d3000 and d5000 are the starter cameras... if you can afford the d5000 get that over the d3000

Was that a refurb kit? That just goes to your cart which is empty.

Nikon D3000 with 18-55VR refurbished for $399: http://www.adorama.com/INKD3000KR.html

That refurb D5000 kit is still out there, but it went up in price from $525 to $570.

oooo...

Any discounts?

What kind of price could you get me on a 12-24mm f/4 in Nikon mount, Version 1 without motor? Would warranty still apply?

it's basically employee cost + 10% or something like that and that's not including tax.

I'll check on that for you. Last time I asked for prices they were out of stock. They said something about BH Photo buying their inventory.

How much for Tokina AT-X 100mm f/2.8 and the AT-X 50-135 for Nikon mount?

I wish I went through you for my 11-16mm. I paid retail for that thing! But well worth it!

Amazon coupon codes - I think these are related to the Nikon March rebates program.

From another site:

D3000 w/18-55 ($460) + 55-200 DX VR ($222) + coupon 552OOMAR ($100 off) = $582
D5000 body only ($546) + 55-200 DX VR ($222) + coupon 552OOMAR ($100 off) = $668
D5000 body only ($546) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $856
D5000 w/18-55 ($651) + 55-200 DX VR ($222) + coupon 552OOMAR ($100 off) = $773
D5000 w/18-55 ($651) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $961
D90 body only ($783) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $1093
D90 w/18-105 ($1027) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $1337
D300s body only ($1453) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $1763
D300s w/18-200 ($2083) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $2393
D700 body only ($2400) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $2710
D700 w/24-120 ($2860) + 70-300 VR ($510) + coupon 7O3OOMAR ($200 off) = $3170

These rebates end March 27th, which coincides with the close of Nikon's fiscal year (March 31st) so they're trying to move a lot of inventory to prop up financial numbers. Good deals!

Refurb Nikon D40 for $399 with 18-55 kit lens

You can't buy this thing new anymore, so this is as good as it gets if you want one. 1/500s flash sync would be mighty handy right about now. Oh so tempting.

Anyone looking for Canon refurbished cameras, check out the Canon Loyalty Program first. Details are in the link below. You basically get 20% off the refurb pricing if you trade in an old Canon camera. So that old broken Canon P&S will now save you $$$$ if you get a DSLR.

The hottest item right now is the refurb 5DII going for about $1599.99. It sells out quick though...Lots more refurb in the link. A POTN was nice to make an FAQ that's easy to understand

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=948785

Let the buying begin!

If you just happen to be looking for a pretty powerful photo editing and sorting tool, and just happen to have a Mac, you can now get Aperture 3 software from the new Mac App Store for just $79.99. Requires the latest Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.6) operating system. My parents bought me this for Christmas for $199 retail, but I still wasn't sure so I had them take it back and took the money instead. Then I decided I wanted it so I got it from Amazon for around $168. For whatever reason I didn't open it immediately and good thing too. Sending it back today.
