Image Hosting Guide

EDIT: This thread has been around for almost 3 years, and I thought it's time for an update. As of now, V6P now provides our members with their very own gallery space.

You can upload your images here: http://www.v6performance.net/gallery/uploadphoto.php

And see them by going here: http://www.v6performance.net/gallery and clicking MY GALLERY.

If you want your images to display in a thread, follow these directions. BTW, this only works for Internet Explorer, since nobody uses Firefox, Netscape, or Opera these days...jk

Internet Explorer Instructions: If you want to your picture to display in a thread, simply right click it while viewing it in the gallery, select properties. Highlight the value next to Address (URL), copy, and paste it into your thread with the following format:
Code:
[img]http://www.http://www.v6performance.net/gallery/data/12173/blahblah.jpg[/img ]

NOTE: REMOVE THE SPACE IN THE CLOSING TAG ABOVE
If you choose to host your images elsewhere, some hosts reccomended by myself and others include:

www.imageshack.us
www.imagemagician.com
www.zeetec.net
www.fototime.com
mywebpage.netscape.com
www.fortunecity.com

Some easier hosts are your isp, most isp's give you 5-10mb (usually) of space to host files and a webpage. Just a warning though, many put on bandwidth limits, so hosting a sig on a host with limited bandwith may result in your host temporairly disabling your hosting account or extraneous charges. So check with them first when you start hosting your images.

If anybody has any other hosts they would like mentioned, PM me or KnightRyder and we can edit this thread

-James

another great place to host pics is at mywebpage.netscape.com , they allow remote linking to the pics, at least for now they do.

25 MB of web space
3 GB of file transfer
FTP Access Only

If you use them as a site, they have banner and pop-up ads but I think remote-linking will be fine as long as you don't go over your 3 gigs of bandwidth

as far as i know, the only way u can see things remote linked from imagestation is if you are signed up. if you arent, u get some kind of default image.

does anyone here use optimum online? for a cable modem...i cant figure out if they give me web hosting or not. but i COULD hi-jack my moms, Teleruian bull**** or something.
