Noticed Some New Things On V6p

I just noticed some new things today while doing my conventional every day routine of browsing this site. One of the first things I noticed was the sub links provided, for example when a member makes a post and a certain word is used, a link is provided to an external site. Words such as tires and warranty are in green font and provide some cool info I think this is an awesome feature, and makes this site even more sophisticated The other thing I noticed was that our ROTM Program is up and running again Its been months since I can remember an update on the homepage Thanks to clean2draccord Keep up the good work V6p!

IntelliTXT http://www.vibrantmedia.com/whatisIn...intellitxt.com

It's pretty neat with the popup boxes. It's good to see V6P expanding more and more everyday.

Quote:
IntelliTXT ad units are always identified with "double-underlines" and each mouse-over box is clearly denoted with the word "Advertisement". IntelliTXT ad units are delivered in real-time and deployed after the article has been published by the website. I'm for V6p site growth. I also think that those who've put their blood, sweat, and tears into the creating and maintaining of this site should get a little something back. Everytime I see a new sponsor for V6p, I'm happy. Why? Because it means more for me the user.

BUT!... The IntelliTXT software is very ANNOYING. I've seen it on many other sites such as NASIOC. To me, it makes it a giant pain in my ass to try to read. I was dreading the day it would be brought here. It's like a misquito, buzzing in your ear. Everytime you swat it away, it comes back. Tires. Honda. Nissan. Toyota. Used Cars. New Cars. Accord. Maxima. Camry.

I would just like to read a post w/o having my eyes constantly drawn to and bombarded with harrassing ads.

Is there anyway for the users that don't want to see it turn it off, and those who can care less leave it on? If so.... PLEASE give us this option!

The feedback is always appreciated.

We are just testing some options with various advertising means. Since this website is ran 100% out of pocket, its is really nice to find alternative means for some income to keep the site running and operational. I do plan on formatting the IntelliTXT links a bit different to give them a better flow throughout the site.

Be on the lookout for more changes, we are currently in the process of upgrading alot of stuff, and even have an all new design in the works!

K... I'll hang tight for a bit.

In all seriousness, I've left another site before because the Admin couldn't get a grasp on the IntelliTXT. Please don't read that as an "OR ELSE!" threat. Cause it's not. I'm just saying that is how much it annoys me.

I don't think I could ever leave V6p. Again, I really appreciate the work done here.

Lightbulb More Creative ways to help our V6P Team.

It's an endless process for our V6P crew to find creative ways to support our expansion and R&D projects. So whatever ads we can use to help V6P we will try out. V6P does not receive ongoing monetary donations of support from its members, so we would appreciate you supporting the new programs that are helping us. So if there is a slight change in our site's environment causing some of some inconvenience, please cope with it until we refine the new additions.

Thanks for your understanding and patience,
Maurice

Yea I have to agree that it's good to see v6p growing. I have to admit that the highlighted ads were the first 'oh no' words uttered. It's just distracting to me. HOWEVER if that's what it takes to keep v6p humming along, then so be it. BTW - do you guys have a paypal donations? I'm sure you do - I've just never noticed or looked for it. Another website I frequent actaully posts how much money they need monthly, and that way the users know how much they need to contribute and see that their donations have actaully helped.

Love v6p!

Dave

dont promote click fraud. .google is being taken to court for it at present. the last thing you want is v6p being involved in such a legal situation.

I thought you were trying to say when you were typing out your post, the ads were showing up, not reading through a post.

That is set on our end, not the users end.

We are just in a one month trial with the company that distributes these ads, Vibrant Media. Alot of other top-shelf sites run these, and are turning a profit, so why shouldn't we capitalize on some of that too?

Our site does not have large, obtrusive, ugly banners like you see on so many other large forums, and with the constant drop off in revenue generated from our primary advertisments, Google, as well as our smaller advertisers, a small and subtle supplemental advertiser income will be a nice change of pace.

I will admit I am not a fan of the green color for them, and I do intend on changing them, but for the actual ads to cause any interference to you, you would physically have to move your mouse over them to see what pops up. That seems more like your issue to deal with, than ours.

Have you guys gone after TV sponsors? Like the Speed Channel, different shows on Discovery like Amer. Hot Rod? I figure this would be the best market for that. 18 - 25 year olds that are gear heads. I don't mind the banners.

I see a chance to interject a thought here since we're on the topic of revenue generation. I think I've seen it mentioned here a while back, but has anyone investigated starting a Donation Program that let's donating members get a special "tag" underneath his/her profile that says "Donating Member?" A lot of the larger forums have implemented it. To be honest though, I don't know how much of a benefit it would be, but I think it at least warrants some thought. What does everyone think?

I've seen this at other communities as well. I think this would be a great idea with either the option (or both) to display next to user names in threads or on the homepage.
