Possible HID-only forum on V6P?

I'm just going to throw this out there, but would it make sense to create a new section of the board dedicated to HID questions and media? Anything from retrofits to HID kits with FAQs of projectors types, wiring harnesses, bulb types, etc.

I know there are random HID bits dispersed throughout this board (ie: HID retrofits roll-call, etc.), but it might be nice to have a centeralized location where people can discuss, ask and answer questions about HIDs and even just regular car lighting. (we all know how many people have asked whether HID kits are good, whether they need a wiring harness and what color 6000K HID bulbs ACTUALLY are).

Does this idea have the possibility of becoming a reality?

i was actually thinking about this yesterday when i saw the Forced Induction Sub Forum thread.

Obviously, i would love to have a sub forum too dedicated to any hid and other automotive lighting..

We'll look into this. I think it would be a great addition.

I can put certain threads to each generation specific FAQ and make a section for HID Lighting in the FAQ for each generation. Sort of like this:

6th Gen FAQ
General
xxxxxx
xxxxxx

Perf.
xxxx
xxxx

Lighting
HID Retrofit
HID kits
xxxx
xxxx

A sub-section IMO to be worth it would have to have at least a day's worth of posts each day. You go to some of the other V6 sections and they have month old posts, 5 threads down.

i almost threw up when i saw the title of this thread, until i opened it up, although we will never have more info then say HIDPlanet.com, it is a good idea to divide it into difference gen's. although if you sticky everything, then essentially your sticking nothing.

The idea of splitting it into the different gens seems right in an organizational point of view. But the same questions about HID kits etc, would be asked in all the forums. and I believe people with HID retrofits and kits could help each other cross-generation. (ie: I could take some retrofit tips on how to do a 7th gen for example).

I agree. It seems that a generation-specific subforum would be stretching the amount of interest there is in that subject right now. A catch-all lighting forum would probably get more attention than generation-specific subforums.

I'm not saying subforums though. I'm saying to putting them on the FAQ to help answer the questions. I don't think there would be enough threads to justify another subsection. Too many subsections was the biggest complaint from the members before the last major changes a couple of years ago.

Here you go guys, I just spent about 2 hours moving all the HID/LED/retrofit/projector threads to the new forum. A total of 1,052 threads.

The NEW H.I.D.S - RETROFITS - L.E.D.S forum is located just right below the AUDIO - VIDEO - ELECTRONICS forum on the main forum index.

Forum Link

I hope you guys enjoy it!

That's great work Michael. Long overdue for that subforum.
