For "For Sale" Board

I was just thinking. Maybe we could create subforums for each gen of accords?

Like a for sale for 6th gens, 7th gens, and so on. Eliminate some of the clutter of finding the right thing for your car.

Especially when a lot of people don't list the car in the title post, they just say stuff like

"JDM Supa Headlights for Accord"

Just a suggestion.

My initial thought is that that would be extremely cumbersome to manage. There are way to many categories for things to go in, or too many interpretations of where something could/would go. On top of that, you'd still have the unlearned posting in the wrong subforums. It would be a mess.

One possible solution, though, would be to stress the fact that a clear and concise thread title is invaluable in getting your thread noticed. It's simple marketing. I see where you're coming from though. You do see some pretty stupid thread titles that are ambiguous as hell.

I had to come back and mention that I could see some value in creating two sub-forums -- one for automotive-related parts, and another for "all other" items for sale.

That is basically what I figured the response would be. Would be a bit of a pain in the ass to be patrolling the extra forums.

Just figured it might help out a little. The stress the fact for the title would help a lot though.

Most the people on here are pretty clear about what they are posting for but their are still a lot of people leave out the most important stuff, the year and the engine.

i like that idea since i see alot of people posting up computer stuff, DVDs FS, etc...but i dont really see the problem of keeping it the way it is since some people combine their FSs w/car stuff and miscellaneous things....

If you click search and advanced search, you can choose whether to search "entire posts" or "titles only."

I don't mind doing this at all, and I'm sure we can make this happen but we really don't have many sales outside of automotive parts.

I believe we tried this already but we stopped enforcing it. If members aren't willing and able to post actual pictures and a price for their item, they a decreasing their chances of closing a sale. It's not our responsibility to do this. It should rest on the members if they're wanting to close a deal.

well we just can do for sale section in each gen of car. i seen that 5th gen has their own for sale thread or category within their section. im sure it wouldnt be hard to do. just add another category(7th gen mod, 7th gen performance) so just add 7th gen for sale section

I agree, a gen-specific sales thread would make things much easier for potential buyers. And you could easily include another thread for say car audio, and a miscellaneous one as well.

In response to your suggestions, I have created the "Non-Automotive Classifieds" as a sub-forum to the FS forum. Some recent threads have been moved over from the FS forum.

Thanks for your dedication and support for V6P.
